Stupid mistake

OP, you have two choices. Follow GingerBob's advice and hope the problem goes away. In the meantime you will be wracked with worry and guilt. If it comes to light later on then it will be very difficult to argue you did not commit fraud. Follow everyone else's advice and tell you uncle0

You need to tell him you have committed identity fraud against him, it is a criminal offence and you are impacting his credit.0

A mistake? No, not really.
Fraud, misrepresentation, lies? Absolutely.
It IS fraud and you have lied to gain a loan which you knew you wouldn't get if you only told the truth.
You've even used a family member and probably stored up a lot of grief for him too.
Don't try to dress it up as a mistake - you knew what you were doing and now you're worried about the implications.
Pay back the debt and come clean ASAP - if I were your uncle I'd report it all to the CRAs and ask for notes to be placed on them and to the catalogue company too.
To screw over your own family is a low as you can go.0 -

Exactly.
Section 2 Fraud Act 2006, maximum 10 years per offence.
It will be easier to sort out if you approach him, rather than him finding out another way, and if you end up in front of a judge, a penalty would be much less this way.
You willingly inputted someone elses details into a computer. I don't believe that this can be done accidentally, so certainly no mistake here.

OP - I guess you're wishing you hadn't come here for advice now. As you can see, this board tends to attract those who like to rub salt into the wound. The type of person who's never ever done anything wrong and leads a perfect life.
As for your predicament. Yes, it wasn't a mistake, but as I said, only you know whether or not you could approach your uncle. Weigh it up carefully and ignore the less than helpful stuff you've elicited here. Definitely pay off the catalogues and close the accounts.
More unhelpful stuff here vvvvvv

This was a premeditated act, its fraud.
The catalogue company may notice a problem, pass it onto their revenue team who will discover the fraud and investigate it and pass it onto the police.
Your uncle may get wind of it and inform the police that someone is using his ID to commit fraud.
You need to front it out with him and let him know everything. Theft is theft and fraud is fraud £1 or £1,000 the amount is irrelevant the fact that you did this knowingly and willingly...premeditated for your own gain is the factor that will be your downfall if police are involved and the effect on your life will be long lasting as well.
Why did you not tell him your problems? is he not approachable, has he upset you was it revenge? If he is a nice man he may be very upset and or hurt by your actions, he may pay it all off and ask you to repay him or he may disown you forever and call the police.Whatever the reaction its your fault.....NOT A MISTAKE.
I really hope you sort it out and it doesn't come back to bite you, who will look after your child if it does?I love green dots :T I hate red dots :mad:0 -
i would come clean make sure you pay them all off and hope that uncle wont report you. have you been keeping up with payments can you pay them off even if it will take you 6 months you could then admit to uncle and say you are dreadfully sorry and once paid, it should settle it down without the need to involve police etc

OP, even if you are good as gold and pay it off completely he is still likely to find out one day. It's going to hurt in the short term but be honest with him asap and if you can pay it all off now by whatever means possible.Pants0

Rub salt into the wound? No
I'd rather give the worst case scanario, rather than paint a rosy picture which then turns out to be more serious than I've described (possible custodial sentence instead of caution etc)
As my Albanian friend above said, fraud like this is premeditated, and as I've pointed out above, this is a serious situation.💙💛 💔0 -

Not rubbing salt into her wounds at all, she asked for advice.
I am giving her the info she asked for... From the wisdom of many years as a police officer dealing with these issues.
We have all made mistakes, which is why most of us are on the forums and I am not perfect by any means.
As for being Albanianthat is my beautiful lady, I am very English but proud to be an honorary Shqiptar
