I understand he had agreed to have the debate with Darling after the commonwealth games.
    Darling was rejecting that date.
    Why?

STV selected a date and stated this date is the only one they would accept. Darling accepted.

Salmond then chose another date that suited him better and STV said "Whatever you say Mr Salmond." Naturally Darling refused the new date.

so you are voting YES so there will be more extreme political parties rather than boring consensus middle of the road ones?

I would prefer the Labour Party to be a left wing party and the Conservative Party a right wing party, then we could debate the issues and differences between the views instead of how well a party leader eats a bacon sandwich.

I know that Scottish independence will cause untold riches to descent on Scotland and I know the weather will improve too, but is there really any evidence that the intelligence of Scottish voters will change?

There's no need to be so patronising CLAPTON. I'm being sincere in my answers and your response is to try and belittle..... Are you so unhappy?

I'm being sincere in my comments: but it seems the height of absurdity to expect these sort of changes just because some powers are transferred from Whitehall to Brussels.

He only wants to debate with Cameron though. Not another Scottish person. Ask yourself why.

The tories haven't been in favour for some time in Scotland. Salmond sees an English Tory as as the perfect 'us v them' debate. He's not so keen to debate with Allister Darling is he?

Now, we know Darling is scottish and Labour, but how did Nicola Sturgeon describe him? - Cameron's Tory substitute!
Another example of how Scotland welcomes and absorbs incomers from England and elsewhere.

If his family had chosen to send him to school in Scotland AFTER Milliband closes the borders like he's suggesting, he would have stayed English I suppose.

I'm hoping that Scotland doesn't join the EU and instead joins EFTA....just because Salmond says we are joining the EU doesn't make it so.

After the handover, if it happens, at the next election Salmond will not be in power.
