I'd guess you've got a dead bird (or rat or squirrel or something) in the roof space. Dead creatures = maggots, but maggots usually become flies and if you've got a lot of flies you'll soon have a lot of spiders.
If maggots hanging out on your ceiling are going to cause problems, spiders dropping in for a visit probably won't go down too well either. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
4 litre ice cream containers are ideal for flour. Only I don't often buy ice cream!Signature removed for peace of mind0

With all these free maggots on offer you should take up fishing, sounds like it's the only kind of tackle you'll be using for the forseeable future

If they are thin, white and move like little caterpillars then I would say you have a moth infestation. We have had 3 in the past year and they are a pain. The lava move differently to maggots which wiggle. Definitely check all your packeted food like cereals and any flour etc.. they also love teabags!!! and oats and stuff like that... We had to completely empty all our cupboards and check every individual item...
I have no idea how to get rid of them completely... if anyone knows that would be great...0 -
What I'm going to say won't help I'm afraid but maggots can and do travel up walls etc.
Unfortunately I don't remember the full story too well, but my ex husband had a friend who owned a fishing-tackle shop 20-odd years ago. Now I'm not sure if the maggots were allowed to get too warm or they didn't have enough sawdust or something but large numbers escaped and sime actually managed to find their way into the flats above the shop....
"Yours" haven't come from downstairs have they?:wave:0 -
ok no offense but thats just gross that your trying to hide it to save money. what if it fell into somebodys food or something and they didnt notice?! You say you have kids, so think of their health rather than your pocket. Flip me, id sort it out right away regardless of cost!0
