Cats wouldn't normally do their business on a lawn, in open view.

They normally go for either business somewhere they can cover it when they have finished, ie loose soil or gravel.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Agree with everyone above, unless your grass is like our next door neighbour's and 3 foot high so the kitties can go in privacy, it's probably not cats.

Don't use bleach anywhere; it encourages cats to go in that area, and maybe the same for foxes.

For cats, lots of lemon/citron juice around the boundary or on the areas where repeated offending takes place. You can also buy sonic emitters which seem to work well.

For cats and foxes, buy some lion poo, you can get it off Amazon. Spread liberally around your boundary.

Also for foxes, if you really need the toilet, consider peeing yourself around the garden. Apparently male wee puts them off big time.

Don't hassle your neighbours over it. Under the law once cats are outside they are effectively wild animals and the neighbours have absolutely no obligation to clean it up. It'll just get their back up.

Just because they have lots of cats doesn't mean it's definitely their cat. We own two, and once had a neighbour throwing sh*t at our door accusing it of being our cat going in her garden. It turns out it wasn't (ours go in the tray or in our garden), it was another black cat from a LONG way away, but because we had a black cat it obviously MUST have been ours. If it was 110% for certain mine and she didn't make first contact that way, I would've gone and cleaned it up for neighbourly relations, but there is NO obligation to do so.

I had the same problem on a regularly mown lawn so I cant see how anybody says its probably not a cat and frankly find cat owners that absolve themselves of any responsibility as incredibly selfish people.

Rather than going back to my feral roots when outside and personally returning the favour to my neighbours as it seems some believe that makes it ok for cats (and its the LAW apparently), I just returned their pets forgotten possessions to their own garden.

Either that or the mustard powder seems to have done the job, oh and real Lion poo is considered toxic waste and incinerated in the UK, you wont get the real stuff any more unless you bring back some from safari.

People should keep their cats inside unless they live on a farm.

How far does the farm have to be from the nearest houses/gardens? What about children playing football in the street and their ball bouncing through my flower beds 20 times a day? Should they only be allowed out to play if the live in a house with a football field?

Because the majority of Cats (not all) will poo in private and bury their business, whereas Foxes dump anywhere and do nothing with it all of the time.

On the basis of probability when you look at the FACTS it's likely not to be a cat.

    That's why!

I'm a cat owner, and I don't subscribe to the "cats won't poo on short grass, they'll want somewhere they can cover it" idea - as I have a cat visitor in my garden who regularly poo'd on my grass (I caught her in the act more than once), and didn't attempt to cover it. I used a repellant and that has stopped her.

OP you'll be fine with a supersoaker, I'd definitely try that on the offending cats in your garden, I'd try the citronella around your boundary too.

FACTS! what facts? a simple search on Google shows the amount of problems caused by cats in peoples gardens, why is it you can get so many products that try and solve the problem (not at the cat owners expense either)
if you cant tell the difference between a fox dump and a cats then you really need to get out more.
Funny how some cat owners love to blame foxes too.

Anti vandal paint on the top of all my fences, doesn't stop or even discourage the cats, but I can only imagine the state of the neighbours shag pile carpet when their precious moggy returns home with it all over their paws. :rotfl:

I find one of the sonic repellers works well.

Although it's worth bearing in mind that many older cats can be quite deaf...
