  • My mamas and papas padding stains easily. I pop it in the sun and the stains come out just as easily.

    LOL!

You're not even in the right area.

The argument is not whether it is 'wipe clean' or 'hand wash' or 'dry clean'. No one is arguing about how it has to be cleaned.

The argument is about how effective cleaning it is.

The answer seems to be: not very effective at all.

Something that is stained can still be perfectly clean - as long as it is actually clean, does staining really matter?

Some people don't mind stained furniture - presumably you are one of them.

    Others are more particular.

Preferring things to be unstained is perfectly reasonable but personally I'd prefer it to be clean, but perhaps that's just me.

With a baby, you should expect stains. Want to live in a show-house. Don't have a baby.

If you prefer things to be clean, this tip may help. Keep then free from stains and it will be much easier to tell if they are clean. That's one of the main reasons people prefer things to be unstained.

It is down to the OP not reading the full instructions properly. It clearly states...

    Upholstered wipe clean seat.
    Washable seat cover.

It is classed as a 'Deluxe' seat. The deluxe is most likely the padding, which comes off very easy by the looks of it. You can use the chair without the padding, then it is completely wipe clean.

Most likely it has been designed for people who don't leave their kids to feed themselves and who don't get food everywhere. A number of the other chairs sold on that site are very similar in design/practicality. It is just a ' Posher' version of a normal chair.

I wasn't sure where to start replying but I thought this was an interesting point.

You wouldn't want the baby sitting on the plastic seat, he'd be floating around, it looks really uncomfy. The padding is washable but the stains don't come out, even when dried on the line in the sun. Honestly, it soaks up colour immediately (oddly the stitching comes up nicely). Plus the plastic under the padding has lots of 'holes' where it was moulded and built, it really doesn't look designed for use without the padding.

Baby led weaning is the way in which parents are encouraged to feed their children by health visitors in my area. Therefore most parents will be putting food on the tray and encouraging their baby to feed and play with the food. This will always result in food getting onto the padding, even an older child would get the seat dirty.

We also have this seat (at Grandmas) and it's in perfect condition after many many meals. So it is quite possible to design a seat which doesn't stain.

I'm going to try returning it to Argos tomorrow, I shall let you know how it goes. It just looks so gross and it's been milton'd several times and spent today outside in the sun with no effect.

I agree with the reviews, lovely chair, nice and easy to raise and lower with very easy to clean tray and legs etc, but the fabric stains too easily.

  • We had the IKEA high chair, used an old cushion and did BLW. Lots of mess and lots of fun, laminate floors and a dog who's a Hoover also recommended :)

Have you tried Vanish or won't you use it? Make a little paste and rub it in, leave for a bit then wash. I find it works for most baby/child stains.
