Getting euros

As usual i have left getting euros to last minute. Iv been looking online the exchange rate and i think the best place between post office ,rbs and marks and spencers, m & s has the best rate? As i dont want to use my debit card abroad because of all the charges! Any recommendations for best place to collect euros? And should i take the money out of account and change or just use my card to exchange?
Just want to get my moneys worth!

  • If there's a Money Shop or Cheque Centre nearby check their rates as in my experience they normally have the best rates.

I would recommend taking cash out of your account since using your card will normally incur an extra fee.

Thomas Cook offer pretty good rates at present.

Today it is 1.2245 for any amount. (23rd June)

You reserve the rate online and collect at a preselected local store same day (or next day if you order in the evening when they are closed.

I used this several weeks and printed out a voucher to order money and get a better rate than just turning up at the counter. In my case Debenhams was the most convenient - there is no point going miles out of your way to save a few pence.

Unlike all the bureaux de change, then? What debit card do you have? Which credit cards do you have?

It's much more convenient to just walk up to an ATM and take the amount you actually need on the day, and the difference in cost will be pence.

I changed mine last weekend, for £407 odd I got exactly 500 euros.

Though I will take my debit card abroad just in the unlikely case that something does happen. Better to be safe than sorry!

That's some compensation for the notes being a bit greasy with chip fat.
