facebook snooping

Ive just been told by my wife that her employer has been looking at her facebook saying she signed sommit that allows them to do that. is it legal for them to look into such things? and is there a way to block them out? i know she has not said anything to bad mouth the company but they have mentioned a few things that she has posted, i dont feel its right that an employer can do this and i want it stopped now

Is her profile not set to private?

Your employer can look at any website they want as long as the website is legal! If they want to Google your name or look you up on Facebook, of course they can do that, just as you can look up your boss. The way to stop them (and the rest of the public) seeing things you don't want them to see is to use your privacy settings. It's not about 'putting a stop' to anything, it's about the general good sense of limiting what you put out there for all and sundry to find.

Well she needs to change her settings.

If her profile is public, then anyone who wants to can:
    a. view it at their leisure
    b. read everything she writes/posts
    c. judge her on it

If she wants it to stop, then she needs to ensure she is careful about what she types in plain public view.

Hopefully no one at her work is on her friends list?

If they are tracking the movements of the employees then I doubt her settings matter if she is using it at work. Might be worth just not using it at work in the future?

Or it could be more the fact that another employee has just screen shot it and passed it on to the employers and they are covering for this employee

she cant use it as work as theres little to no signal there, my guess is that one of the other employees there has been sharing infomation to them

I would think so as well. Time for the wife to remove all work colleagues....or even better, get rid of Facebook all together
