Applying but don't Rent, own or live with parents

Morning all

I'm coming to the end of my 0% on my barclaycard and looking to do a balance transfer or cash transfer to current account.
I've got a decent credit history, never missed any payments and earn approx £17k.
Thing is I live with my long term girlfriend, who owns the house. So while I make payments to our joint account to cover the equivalent, I don't formally rent or own the house.
One of the first questions on applications is if you rent, own home or live with parents. As I don't fall into these categories, how do I play it? I have had my barclaycard since uni so haven't applied since then.

FYI The 0% deal I am currently on is from a transfer from my partners card, not one I applied for.

Advice gratefully received!

How do you play it? Truthfully, of course.

The answer appears to be no.

My husband lives with me in my house, and if he's got to fill in a form, he puts 'rent' because thats the nearest scenario.

Thanks for your reply but what do you mean by "the answer appears to be no".

I mean that appears to be the answer to the question on the application form you enquired here about

Sorry if that was unclear but what I meant was on any cc application you have to choose one of the three.

If there is an "other" category, then that's the obvious one.

It is a stupid form if it forces you to say "own home", "with parents" or "rent". You could argue that since you can't answer the form truthfully, then you shouldn't fill it in at all.

Personally I'd look at the nature of the payments to your girlfriend and the way you run your lives. The payments sound like an informal rental agreement to me. Eg whilst you're in her house, you pay for being there. On the other hand, if you consider your relationship to be long term and committed and the payments are part of your sharing everything with her, then you could say "own home". You might not be a registered owner in terms of property law, but in some situations this could be a more truthful representation of your financial situation than "renting".

You can't choose any of the three, as none apply to you.

Why don't you just get your partner to apply?

She's done it before for you, and possibly more than once it would appear.

Your GF owns the house. You give her money monthly and she can kick you out when she pleases.

So the only option that fits is "rent", so tick that one. If anyone questions why, you have a reasonable explanation.

I can see arguments for saying you rent, but also it's your own home.

If you're living with her you're a couple. As a couple it's your home. It's owned. Therefore I'd tend to think it's "own home" as the answer.
