balance transfer to my partner?

Options
Dear all...

I'm self employed (fairly recently) and can't really prove a good enough income to risk applying for new credit card. I have just under £3000 on a barclaycard and am desparate to transfer the balance to a 0%/permantely low intertest card. I have no probs paying the debt and have never missed a payment but i'm not making much ground on it. One option I have been discussing with my partner is for her to open a new card so I can then transfer the balance onto that, she wouldn't have a problem getting a card as she has a good job/credit score. But, is this possible if the balance is from another name?

Any help (including other suggestions) gratefully received.

OP.

Yes it is possible to do this, the credit card companies rarely ask what the name is on the card when doing a balance transfer.
Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.
  • Hi, sorry to but in but i was interested inthe mechanics of how to transfer the balance of someone else's card to me. My Mam has a ridiculous rate with Amex but cant BT to anyone else, so I thought i'd get a card with &More and transfer mine and hers at the same time.

Do they simply ask what the Credit Card No's are no questions and credit the money to the both lenders on the cerdit card No's i give them??

Sorry i'm a bit of a finance dunce... it all gets too much some time!

Thanks for any help you can give me....

did the same for my dad with no probs :D
  • Don't mention the name difference and you shouldn't have any problems, you can still work around it by adding the other name onto your account as an authorised user, they don't necessarily have to have a second card, just have to be named on the account.

You cannot transfer it to her card but she can transfer it to her card.

By doing so she becomes solely liable for the debt so if you were to split up or anything else happen she is the one that would have to continue to pay for it.
