Sounds reasonable as you've got a nice discount, free move, and the 2TB boxes can normally cost a few hundred quid.

phone them in a couple of months to explain you've changed your mind and open a new account.
Sky doesn't allow new customer deals unless the former customer has left for a year or more.

Alternatively get them to move your services and then cancel.
Moving services to another address starts a new 12 month minimum term, I believe.
(So not really "free" as Sky claim)

as its a new install put it in your partners name at the new address, whats sky going todo.

Charge you the full price for the new kit and install they gave you for free and revert the price of the package back to the existing customer rate.

Havent worked for Sky in donkeys years but the old Sky boxes plus install used to be about £300 for those they caught taking out a new contract when in fact they were existing customers.

Seems ok and will be a simple seem less move.

I don't see why you think that. It seems more to me.

The b?!)5;ds have gone back on their word! Phoned today to take them up on the offer an they said they had no record of it! Even though I was told the offer was on my account! Anyway, lost the plot with them and have cancelled! 10 years loyalty gone! Gonna sign up at the new house with wife's name/account. I really hate sky, no alternative in my (new!) estate. Come on virgin !

Haha! Offered same deal for £25 and half price multiroom! Sky operate in a crazy way. Think I'm gonna stay with freeview now.

    Defrauding Sky!
Nice way to start a new contract.

Just be honest, most advisor's will give you a good deal.

P.S. Sorry re-read your subsequent posts, don't blame you.
Unfortunately deals change so sometimes they cannot do it after they change. Possibly due to financial year ended on 26th for retentions so whilst they could do deal when you called at first, the deals were all removed the previous day to your second call.
  • I have been a Sky customer at my present flat for 8yrs, and my previous one for 3yrs.
Not happy with Skys' continual price increases. I am now paying close to £60pm for the basic package, including line rental, and standard broadband.
New customers get great deals, but existing ones don't get any reward for being faithful.
My housing area does not allow BT fibre, or Virgin, so it is Sky or a Freeview/Freesat box.
My current landlord is selling my flat, so I have to move.
My sister lives in Spain, so I am taking up her offer to take a long holiday there, and find a new home in the UK, when I return. This new home could allow BT and Virgin with special offers for new customers.
When away, I will have no need for Sky telly, broadband or line rental. No need to keep my old landline number, as I only use it for internet access. I use my mobile for all calls.
Don't want to put my Sky 'on hold', as I will be paying £60pm again on my return.
So, looking to cancel everything with Sky.
On my return, I shall look at BT and Virgin new customer deals.
If I do decide to rejoin Sky, I shall apply as a new customer, with the associated discounts.
If Sky pick up on my name or bank details, they could recognise me, and insist on £60pm.
I would be unhappy to do this, with a very old Sky Box, and other cheaper options available in my new UK home..
In this case I could play Sky off against their opposition.
    Any comments?
