Keep a noise diary and contact your local Council's Noise team. Once they have enough evidence, they will visit the occupier and warn them to keep the noise down or risk having their music system confiscated.

The Council might be inclined to issues a closure notice which means the tenant has to leave the property and cannot return for a period (usually 12 weeks). This happened to one of my in-laws near neighbours.

  • Might also be worth getting the out of hours/emergency number for the neighbours letting agency and giving that a ring when it kicks off again. Give them the same grief you are getting and it might adjust their attitude a little.
  • In your shoes i would try to negotiate ending your tenancy early and move.

Keep a note if everything and ring council, police and letting agents every day till it is sorted. I feel for you, i know what you are going through.

The problem is, it seems to take forever before anything is actually done to help the victims in this mess. noise control and police seem pretty useless at times. Our situation was different to yours but the problems with our neighbour have ended now. Just by ignoring him, but obviously in your case its different. They would love you to ignore them so they can play their music 24/7. Ours was when we fell out with troublesome neighbour in our block a year ago. After this, our car got paint chucked over it and our windows kept getting smashed every single week. It was always in middle of night to so no evidence could be gained, plus the cctv didnt pick up very good image. Ours began with neighbour when we politely asked him not to remove the emergency ladder from the building. Then he hurled abuse up at our window from communal garden a couple of weeks later, the police warned him behave or be evicted. This displeased him more and thats when our windows and car got done. We and he just totally ignore each other now. Because he is a person you just cant reason with. But ignoring him works for me. But amidst the police calls there was no proof and nothing was really done about the attacks on our windows and car. They just gave him a warning when shouting up bad language at our window. So he found others ways to cause damage later on. Alas my story above.

Well today after having a party during the week, which I reported to the letting agent the girls arrived back at the house today at lunch time in a taxi , the music started at 2pm - full volume. I rang the police. The taxi they arrived in, they jumped out and ran into the house and didn't pay, the taxi reversed into my car as he parked up to run after them. We moved out for the weekend back to my mums. My car is damaged , not for the first time in this street . How can my landlord find out who owns the property, it's in Northern Ireland , I'm totally worn down , defeated and can't stop crying . They are today on drugs/ drink and totally off their heads. I didn't think people could be so thoughtless and disrespectful.

There is no number for the agent for out of hours or I would def be ringing them ..

We had a similar problem with the house directly behind us (back to back terrace). Parties going on from Sunday 10pm through to 7am Monday morning

My housemate got a drumkit and played it frequently... especially on Monday nights

It didn't take long for them to get the message.

You can search the Land Registry to find out who owns a property in NI.

This website has a phone number you can call as well as the addresses of the customer information services. It will cost £4 to search the register for that address.

anotheruser.... date stamp isn't useless. It indicates the time and date!.....
    Yeah alright....

Unless you are completely changing formats with one format being obscure, it's not hard to fake anything, and if someone is determined enough, a series of date stamps can be automatically added, in order, to a bunch of files, altering the EXIF data along with it.

I agree as part of a whole investigation, they would help but let's not forget that having a date stamp, in essence, means very little.

There is nothing a letting agent can do unfortunately, they can have a word with the tenant advising there have been complaints and perhaps write a letter reiterating their obligations stated in their tenancy agreement, but like most contracts are not really worth a lot I'm afraid. Unless you are being physically threatened then the police would be of very little help I would have thought. I'm afraid the way forward is either the council or moving house unfortunately. I hope you get it sorted out soon, there is nothing worse than selfish neighbours wreaking havoc.
