Nationwide document checks stage delays

Hi all,
We submitted our application to Nationwide on 9th May - exactly six weeks ago now. We still have not had our offer. We are FTB but have a large deposit and excellent credit history etc. We thought it would be a simple process.
Unfortunately there have been many frustrating issues - branch not scanning our documents properly meaning they had to be sent again...request for proof of my partner's middle name (which they didn't mention until I called them for an update several weeks into the application)...an error made by Countrywide on the valuation report that had to be amended (which took an absolute age)...
I was told on Wednesday that our amended valuation report would be processed within 48 hours and our offer generated today. It's now 4pm and - of course - we have heard nothing.0 -

Brokers get to certify ID and upload it to the case straight after submission. We don't get these issues.
We get plenty of other issues though...
Valuation booked for 5 June. Surveyor said no one at site.
Valuation booked for 12 June. ??? !!!!!!?
Valuation booked for 16 June.
Valuation received 19 June.
Valuation checked and offer issued 20 June.
The case was submitted on 31 May, so offer in twenty days, but it still feels like they wasted time...!I am a mortgage broker. I know it's the whole waiting thing.. And then you hear people say the got referred to underwriters ..?? I mean what's that??
Some mortgage applications are straight forward passes others straight declines. In the middle will be those that require review and judgement by an experienced eye.0 -
Not to hijack but thought i'd share my current experience with Nationwide as other have, I'm an existing customer and thought this would go smoothly... so far
- Booked appointment with adviser.
- Make full application on & paid for valuation etc.
- Validation date given was over 3 weeks away (although guess that it not exactly Nationwides fault).
- Get asked for proof of identity - I'm an existing customer...
- Get informed my application has pulled in wrong details from my held details. I only queried as the DIP was showing as rejected on the online tracker. No idea how it was wrong on the basis this was prefilled. Only way to correct was to restart my application and get refunded.
So 6 days after the original application...
- Make second full application & paid for valuation etc
- Two days later get told they need additional documents to cover the week between the two application.
- Go in branch the following day ask them to attach my new documents which hasn't happened. and asked for update as still no refund.
I've had other minor niggles that I shan't go into but thus far fit has been a complete and utter farce and lost over a week and a half leaving me feeling extremely frustrating.

Nationwide have taken almost a week to even give us a DIP/AIP!!! They've asked for bank statements, pay slips etc...just for the DIP!0

@RabK yes, it's all gone through now thanks! I did it over the phone and all seemed to be okay so far. Paid for the survey and now just awaiting it to be scheduled. Fingers crossed it won't be long! I went direct to nationwide. They were brilliant!
Asked for one wage slip, one bank statement and then I had my offer in the post within 8 days and revised offer in 10 days!
Obviously every situation is different!0 -
We applied on the 9th June wanted confrmation of salary and last 2 bonus payments.
Went through a full application accept.
Valuation done on the 17th, but have requested additional info i.e. 1 months bank statements.
I then believe if thats satisfactory we shall have our offer in the post.
I got my dates mixed up...
We applied on the 4th June got DIP - Asked for wage slips
7th June - Asked for 1 months bank statement
10th June -Valuation Date
11th June - Valuation all fine
Delay our end I wanted to have a statement with no O/D usage.
23rd June - Statement faxed Across
24th June - Mortgage accepted via email and text now in the post.
We didnt have to have any interviews. The process would of been faster if it was not for me delaying it my end.0
