Nationwide document checks stage delays

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had experience with Nationwide mortgage application. We're at the documents checking/validation stage since I submitted then in branch on the 19th May 2014. I keep repeatedly getting calls asking for documents/clarifications that I've already given which when they search they are able to find. Is this common? I thought it would be less than 2 weeks but based on the rate of progress I think I will need to try another provider. We are low risk so it's not an issue of bad credit history or pushing our limits (mortgage is half what the max theoretically limit is and we have a 30% deposit). The frustration is not that we can't supply what they are requesting, it's that I refer them to the previously supplied documents then they say it's fine and it gets sent back for assessment.

I went direct with Nationwide as I had been recommended them but both people who recommended them haven’t used them in a few years. I’ve put in an official complaint but I’m concerned I will lose the house we’ve had an offer accepted on due to these delays. It keeps feeling like we're almost there but then I get another call asking for exact or very similar information from previous call which requires no new information just referring to submitted documents.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Nationwide are unique in that sense.

They have a team who look at banks statements, a team who look at payslips etc BEFORE it then gets passed to the underwriter.

I cant get my head around why, im sure someone being paid too much money thought it was a great idea.

Hi, we made our full app yesterday, I was under the impression it only goes to underwriters if case gets referred (if there is a query) we sent all docs requested prior to lengthy phone appointment and have paid for valuation, so waiting for that to take place.. They didn't ask for any other docs .. Should I get worried.com???

Im not one of those brokers who bangs the broker drum. Im all for people doing what is best and whats suits them.

But in the current climate why anyone would apply direct to the likes of nationwide/HSBC is beyond me. Why would you wait up to 3 weeks to see an advisor and then have to sit there for 3 hours?

We did our remortgage application over the phone, took docs into local branch a couple of days later and all done, dusted and offer received within 2 weeks of our initial phone call.
Could a broker have done it any quicker?

We applied on the 9th June wanted confrmation of salary and last 2 bonus payments.

Went through a full application accept.
Valuation done on the 17th, but have requested additional info i.e. 1 months bank statements.

I then believe if thats satisfactory we shall have our offer in the post.

    Remortgages are different.

2 days from what I have been hearing to see an advisor is not normal. closer to 2-3 weeks and then if they have over run on any that day and have run out of time you are put back to another date.
