    1.9PD great engine and there is SMF convertion if the DMF goes.

    What spec/year/miles/price?

    On those 20mile 60mpg roads should get close to 60mpg if you take it easy and keep the tyre pressures correct.

    Mondeo estate is massive, I'm convinced the mondeo could be adapted to a hearse very easily. Only problem is that it's just ugly.

    Even the volvo v70 is better looking car than the mondeo estate. And if volvo can beat a car in the looks department that's saying a lot.

    Edit: talking about the 2003 mondeo here

    For the OPs budget they may get an early new shape,08 onwards.

    Skoda Octavia also springs to mind.

    I personally think the Golf and Leon boot will be a little tight.

    Yes the golf and leon are narrower platform. The golf and leon is comparable to the focus.

    The mondeo is wider platform than focus and the modeo's vw alternate would be passat.
