Its not a club as such, Just a forum. They have local meets etc but most of the members have never attended and there are no fees to pay. You can donate to the site if you wish though.
A bit like googling a discount code on this site.
Very similar. And if you read the threads were the discount code has been removed for those who have simply googled for it, and aren't members of the institute the code was originally given to, although for some reason you seem to assume you have to pay to be a member, or it doesn't count? Still, no doubt you'll be proved right when she puts in a claim, and they pay with no fuss.0 -
Well I quite like auto renew, and would not want it to drop off my policies. I know when they are due for renewal, anyway, and often do cancel, but I'd rather the auto renew be there in the instance that I say fall ill at renewal time and don't take out a new insurance and the get burgled, and not be insured.
It's not a huge chore to have to cancel, considering you're taking a new policy out anyway, it's always worth a phone call to see if your existing provider will match quotes. If they say no, then cancel in one fell swoop.0 -
That is my accident prone sister and she has had 4 claims since being with them.
Never an issue. She says their handling has always been good.
How do you prove someone isnt a member of a forum?
Why did i get £50 when i recommended her to my insurer? She had a Ford at the time. And yet she had no issues changing her car to a Renault. She did query before swapping and they said no problem at all.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Actually WRONG I did cancel but its a pain in the !!!! ... why phone call why not online (simples) !! and why are we classed as lazy that we dont want the hassle of cancelling auto renew on house insurance, car insurance, car breakdown, etceraa., etceteraa., but the holier than though brigade who know two weeks in advance of every policy they hold with their little alarms to remind them are classed as perfect little angels :A
and I DO know when my insurance is due every year for the past twenty odd years and have NEVER forgot, it is only in the last year or two auto renewal has reared its ugly little head .. as for driving uninsured that is a police matter and rightly so.0 -
Auto renewal has always been indicated on my proposal documents, it's also stated on my renewal docs.0

Nothing wrong with auto renewal if the figure has not been inflated above what you could get on the open market.
Bumping the price up is just fleecing the consumer.Mr Straw described whiplash as "not so much an injury, more a profitable invention of the human imagination—undiagnosable except by third-rate doctors in the pay of the claims management companies or personal injury lawyers"0 -
I can see the usefulness in auto-renew and it does encourage customers to stay with the same company instead of looking around.
Of course the companies will suggest their polls say people don't want to be bothered with looking for new policies so prefer auto-renew.
However, they do write to you explaining how much it will cost so it's not like they take money and send you documents later.
I use my renewal letter as ammunition to get a cheaper quote - the last time I took £20 off the renewal price and my current car insurance company still beat it with a fair few extras too.0 -
Auto renewal is fine perfectly fine. It serves a purpose, if it wasnt there then there could be more uninsured drivers on the road, a building or contents not insured when the owner comes to need it.0

Search this forum where people are complaining that an insurer auto renewed and then check to see if they had insurance elsewhere. Quite a few cases they had forgotten the insurance had expired so would be uninsured.
It only takes one call or one letter to cancel.
My last insurer didnt auto-renew and what a pain to make that phone call and say yes
please renew the policy.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
