No, I'd rather the old system of the insurer sending the reminders, and if you don't reply, they don't reinsure at a stupidly inflated price. But you get the reminder. Oddly enough, I have about a dozen annual insurance policies, and the business ones don't auto renew, even at a competitive price, but the consumer ones try to, at a ridiculous price. Go figure.

You have the choice of using a company that dont autorenew though. My previous club insurer used to send the renewal letter stating that if i didnt contact them the policy would not be renewed.

...............It doesn't leave the policy holder uninsured through their own failure to act ..................................Take responsibility for your own insurance.

    So, no irony there then?

As I said, business ones, and as you say your club insurance is far more business like than consumer insurers, know they need to provide a good level of service that the customer actually wants. Consumer insurers simply try to milk it for as much as they can.

Nothing wrong with auto renewal. Most consumers benefit from it (as more policies renew than cancel). It only affects those too lazy to read their letters.

Never once happened to me and to be honest it wouldn't matter if it did. I know who I'm insured with and when then policies are due for renewal.

I am sick to death of having to cancel renewals every year due to AUTOMATIC RENEWALS it is infuriating and time consuming and a complete pain when it is overlooked (due to a house move in the meantime !!) and I then have to spend weeks chasing up to get MY MONEY refunded, why should we have to cancel seems entirely WRONG to me can we PUT A STOP TO AUTOMATIC RENEWALS how much are these companies making out of us

So in other words you forgot about it and thus it renewed? Wouldnt take much more then for you to have actually been uninsured because you forgot the renewal and it was on manual renewal

The club scheme is nothing like a business. Anyone who reads the forum and gets the code can phone and get a quote.

Its a Ford one but my sister still used the same code for her Renault.

A simple question before your quote is all it takes. Do you auto renew. Yes then goodbye. Move onto the next one.
Or ask if you can cancel the auto renew from the start.

If you can be bothered to check prices for next years insurance surely its not hard to phone the old one and say im leaving you and not renewing.

No, the club scheme will be sold to your club, based on what members want. See if you get the same deal without the club code in. Part of the t&c's are probably that you are a club member. Your sister will probably find her insurance is invalid is she isn't, and you've just passed the code on to her to take advantage of the club negotiated discount.

No its not. You dont need to actually be a member of the club. Just find the code on the forum so you dont even have to be a member of the forum or club.

Its not a club as such, Just a forum. They have local meets etc but most of the members have never attended and there are no fees to pay. You can donate to the site if you wish though.

A bit like googling a discount code on this site.
