Keep the BMWWhen you die you can't take the money with you, when you are old, you may be too ill to enjoy the savings, if you die and leave it to somebody, they are not going to love you anymore for it, whether it's a car or something else, there is no point saving money without a view to treating yourself for your hard work.
True....I guess the savings in car terms pays for other niceties in life I couldn't otherwise afford.
I'm a bit of a convert...I used to sell my cars as soon as they got ill, now I repair them. I guess older cars used to rust and rot, engines would burn oil before their 10th birthday and generally they became death traps pretty quickly.
Galvanised bodies and better engineering has brought greater reliability and life of cars. Once the depreciation has levelled, and a car maintained I guess (hope) my car will last many years.

Sounds like a lot of money for the TT. What reg is it? You'll probably get a better spec'd one for cheaper than the one you're looking at.
Check out http://www.ttforum.co.uk/forum/ for things to look out for on used TT's.0 -
What about a nissan 350z? Friend had one and he loved it. Plus they won't pull your pants down and bend you over when the instrumentation pod fails.0

There was actually a 350Z at the same place at the same price but it had creases in the bonnet and the interior was a mess... real shame!
I think the Mrs has settled on the Audi and I have to run the last bits of paperwork in tomorrow morning! I think I will just put it down as a learning experience and see what happens, who knows it could last years and years and be the best car I have ever owned, on the other hand it could be the biggest mistake of my life. Will be test driving it tomorrow so see how it goes I suppose
I've done some reading and the dashboard seems to be problematic on these cars. Is there anything else I should look out for when buying a used TT?
I still love my beemer despite it's issues, at least I can say I owned one and if the TT turns out to be crap in 4 years time, I know which car to buy next0 -

I'm sure overall you will enjoy the vehicle, women do like those TTs, I see why you say you didn't know they had back seats, didn't realise it was a ragtop, the one I had use of was a diesel0 -

There are plenty of "performance" diesel cars out there, even Audi's Le Mans cars are diesels.0 -
What is insane, and an assault to all the senses is the Audi diesel convertible autos. The result of an accountant meeting a hooker for the first time.0
