no-one is allowed to change your childrens surname without your permission, thats law. look into it.

That is assuming the father has parental responsibility - there is nothing to state this is the case. Also, even where the father has PR a court order can be granted (in limited circumstances) to allow a change of name without consent.

The children may not have had their names legally changed - they can be 'known as' - you can actually call yourself anything you want, so long as you are not intending to defraud.

However, like the others, I am saddened that you think that a simple name change means that you can just walk away from your children. What have they ever done to you to provoke this reaction? My ex jumped through hoops of his own making to ensure that he paid nothing for his daughter. Without any input from me at all she now knows what sort of a person he is. You sound like a real catch too.

That's wrong. If OP wasn't married with mother and the children were born before Dec 2003 he won't have parental responsibility. If he went on to have no contact with the children then she would have been granted her wish without breaking the law.

An adult can do this - for children, everyone with PR has to give permission.

Most schools these days know better than to allow "known as" names without having the agreement of both parents.

Interesting - my solicitor, admittedly around 15 years ago, told me that we could do this for the children.

This is incorrect. My daughter is 'known as' with my surname at school, doctors, dentist etc etc without the need for permission from her father.

I was referring to this where I got the impression you are saying that all with PR have to give permission for child to be 'known as'
