Warning! Avoid Bags 4 U Bristol.

I bought a bag from Bags 4 U yesterday, but the first time I used it the strap broke (dropping my stuff in the middle of the road I was crossing).

I attempted to return the bag for a refund this afternoon, but the man behind the counter refused to refund my money or let me speak to the manager - he would only offer an exchange, which I refused. I don't want another bag where the strap lasts under an hour... it's not much use without it!

Please beware. Faulty products and terrible service.

  • On the 13th of August 2014 I bought a suit case from Bags 4 u in The Galleries Broad mead Bristol , I used it for a week and when I was unpacking my suit case I noticed that the zip had came apart in the corner when locked up lucky for me nothing had fallen out however when going back to the store to get an exchange it was unsuccessful due to the manager not being there.
I wasn't entitled to a refund which I knew about I just wanted an exchange but wasn't allowed one the colleague asked me to come back the next day when he had seen the manager. I came back and I still wasn't allowed one so I asked if I could speak to the manager and I did on the phone however the colleague spoke in his own language to his so called manager which could of been anyone and then I spoke to him saying the problems I had he eventually said I could have an exchange however it seemed a bit dodgy..!.
I paid £48 for the suitcase even though it was meant to be £55 I think
2.It seemed he wouldn't give me a exchange and wanted to get rid of me but that didn't happen and he wasn't helpful stating there was nothing wrong with the suitcase when there was he was saying you had to zip it up flush even though the way he did it you wouldn't be able to do that if it had 25kg of weight in there the maximum amount of weight.
    3. The suitcase I returned I gave my code to unlock the lock I believe they cleaned it up then put back onto shelve to resale faulty goods.
    4. I believe they are selling faulty goods so I'm letting people know so they wont get ripped off I was stressed . costed time and money.
    5. The colleague claimed that he would loose some of his wages if that is true I don't know what's going on if not he tried to make me feel sorry for himself even though he has seen the problem the people at the top { boss } haven't or seem to think there isn't one where there is due to being faulty / cheap.
    6. Shocking customer service , terrible products bad shop all round everyone be aware.
  • If you buy faulty goods you are entitled to a refund if it is under 30 days since purchase. It does not matter what the SA or manager says.

The goods sold have to be of:

Satisfactory quality: The product shouldn't be damaged or faulty when you receive it.

    and:

Fit for purpose: You should be able to use it for what the seller says it will do (its purpose), whether that's their statement when you buy it, or an answer to your question. For instance, a tin opener should open tins.

After 30 days you can get your product repaired or replaced up to six months from your purchase. The retailer has one chance to make the repair. If you're still unhappy, you then have a right to a refund.

There are other rules for things such as white goods.

I would reiterate, this is enshrined in law and shops can only extend your rights, they cannot offer lesser rights than that.

And yes I have won a few arguments on this basis.

I can't really undererstand why someone with over 10 years active posting history would resurrect a 2 year old thread and post to it without understanding that the thread is long dead. It's a mistake that a newbie might make but it seems bizarre that someone who has been here for so long would even bother to look for such a thread.

Maybe a spammer necro'd the thread, then Enterprise responded, then the mods killed the necro spam.

I can't really understand why someone with 7 years of posting history doesn't understand that appearances can be deceptive when a spam post is removed. Bizarre indeed.

Do you have any evidence that this happened or are you just guessing? It could be the reason why the thread was resurrected, but it's still no reason to respond to a 2 year old issue.

I can't really understand why posters with years of history can start debates over nothing;)

No I'm not guessing. I saw the post at 2.00am this morning and as it was clearly spam pressed the spam button. I wasn't aware that there is a time limit for posting on MSE, perhaps you can point me in the right direction as to where I can find that info.

I too reported an obvious spam post as spam; it has since been deleted.
