But by all means ask your credit card company and they will probably suggest the same.

Indeed and in the unlikely event that they should go ahead with the chargeback the OP can look forward to legal actions from Paypal.

And almost certainly the loss of the PayPal account as well.

I do not understand why OP does not just use buyer protection and return item for a refund. Why make it so complicated?

Remember when you use Paypal and pay with a credit card, all you are doing is asking Paypal to fund your Paypal account, you are not actually paying for goods with your credit card. Then you use the monies in your paypal account to pay for your purchase.
So the only valid reason for a charge back is if Paypal did not fund you Paypal account as requested.
EBay buyer protection is superior and faster than any charge back anyway.

What you say is arguable even for s75 protection, let alone chargeback. Some insider from the bank working with chargebacks posted here that chargeback against PP was doable.

That said, I agree that PP's protection is much simpler and has to be the first step, especially if you value your PP account and don't want to lose it.

Do it via a PayPal claim, like everyone is saying.
I've had to do it with ebay sellers and companies alike, and PayPal have always been excellent in helping me.
Mortgage free for 5 months :T Then got another mortgage:rotfl:

Well I've done a case for a partial refund.

Ebay said Paypal will block my Paypal account for doing a charge-back.

Yet I rang Paypal, and they said it's no problem to a charge-back. Work that out

It also say's on Paypal's website that your allowed to do a charge-back. Why Ebay and others say your account will be blocked? Yet Paypal said you can do a charge-back? Doesn't make sense.

I have done a partial because I think it was best to try to do that before anything else. I paid a-lot of money for the item. And I'd take a partial for what I'd pay for the item, if I knew it was going to be in a different condition.

The seller assured me they only been worn in the shop. Funny that, they have dirty gel insoles inside....also all the scratches and scuffs. I wouldn't have paid the premium I did.

I think you are having a laugh!
All the posters have told you to go through Paypal - you do a partial refund in the hope of keeping the goods but for a reduced price??

If so I hope you lose.
Send the goods back get a refund end of.

Of course you can do chargeback against Paypal and you should do so if your card has been fraudulently used funding a Paypal account. In your case it hasn't.
