I now remember why I stopped selling on ebay!

Ah, didn't realise that, thought you only got a message when sold/didn't sell or had a message!
Ok have learned my lesson.....will chill next time I sell something!!
I guess I was judging on my own standards, I wouldn't bid on something then take a few days to pay but I now realise this is normal practice
So auction ended thursday, if not paid tomorrow how long do you suggest I wait to send a message to request payment?
You have sent an invoice and a reminder- the buyer needs nothing more. Personally I never ask them whether they still want an item as if they say no I am put in a difficult position. As soon as you feel you have waited long enough just open an NPB . I tend to do that in day 4 or 5 having sent a second invoice.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I always pay as soon as the auction ends- unless it's the middle of the night or I'm at work, then it's a few hours later.
I'm rapidly going off ebay - more and more unscrupulous people are ruining it for the rest of us.0 -
I tend to pay there and then if it's convenient, but it might be the following weekend if I'm away, the next time I go online if I'm out, or another time (eg. pending collection, clarification of postage/combination, etc.).I always pay as soon as the auction ends- unless it's the middle of the night or I'm at work, then it's a few hours later.

Theis expectation of instant gratification is a shift from what has always been the case.
The only way to guarantee instant payment is to put a BIN on requiring instant payment to secure the item.0 -
There are so, so, so many more things to get stressed out about on eBay before you reach worrying about if and when someone pays.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Surely the reason people list items on ebay is to sell them, therefore it's an expectation that people actually pay? Otherwise would it not just be a gallery of personal possessions?
Anyway, the person finally paid today then emailed me to tell me to make sure I posted today as she wants to use the dress at the weekend........what a bloody cheek considering I waited 5 days for payment!! :mad:0 -
So you have sent 2 emails in 24 hours, that is a bit excessive and may irritate a buyer.
THE BUYER HASN'T PAID!!!!!!!!!!!
They should pay quickly.
They don't need three days to pay, as eBays stupid rules state.
If they buyer doesn't have the money on auction completion, then they shouldn't bid. Payment should be automatically processed by PayPal from the buyers account at point of auction win.0 -

The only 'should' is that buyers should pay within the rules - whether you agree with them or not.
I've reported your later post, regarding Soolin, as inappropriate0 -
Just a note on this. If I buy something on Ebay I generally pay as soon as I find out I have won the auction, this could be up to 18 hours later due to ability to get on the internet if I am away from the house etc (not everyone has smartphones!!).
Before now I have had someone send me two emails saying please pay within 12 hours. I made this person wait until the last minute before I paid because it annoyed me.
Incidentally, if paypal processed the payment from my account when I won the auction I would completely stop using Ebay. That is a step too far. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

I find it's best to have low expectations; that way you're never disappointed, but sometimes pleasantly surprised!Anyway, the person finally paid today then emailed me to tell me to make sure I posted today as she wants to use the dress at the weekend........what a bloody cheek considering I waited 5 days for payment!!
That is annoying!0 -
In that sitaution I tend to reply something like "Sorry, I am at work until this evening & item is at my house so will not be able to post today. If I had more notice I would have brought it with me but will post it tomorrow". The send it in the last post.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.
