  • Hey there RT that sounds yum again.

Well that was a week. and happy recycling week to you.

    Things I've benefitted from
    oodles of plums
    oodles of beetroot
    oodles of raspberries and spinach
    oodles of courgettes
free lunch for a colleague leaving
free bbq for another colleague leaving
free petrol for a new p/t job getting some shopping for our volunteers.

So work wise its been a 7+ crazy womble fest and the report went in eventually on time.

38 hours in the garden and I've got some cover from our volunteer person who's left so I'm doing an extra 5 hours a week at £15 for that. Until that post is covered and I've been asked to apply for it.

Also applied for DHG job and have interview on Friday. There is a lot of competition and whilst they already know me, that's not necessarily an advantage. :P

DS arrived home and left a couple days later and is now making tartieflette in les alps learning to chalet host for a week.

    Need do some shopping today.
    Need cook 5kg plums
    Need pick rasps
Need pickle more beetroot and freezer more spinach
Lots of beans at work any inspiration to freeze/preserve them gives a nod.

Helping move AW's DD into flat today in the land of jam

Meal plan might look kinda like this. AW here tonight and DS back on Thurs night

Sat - not sure have Aunty Wik here
    Sun - leftovers
Mon - fish + home veg
Tues - shepherds pie mince is frozen and cooked
    Wed - beef stir fry
Thurs - we'll be late need think about that
Fri - something nice as we're all home for a few days

    Shopping

    mutt fud
    juice - cordial
    fizzy water
    shredded wheat/rice crispies
    nut milk

not sure we need more than that. Which doesn't seem very much but the garden is full of veg/fruit.

Funny shopping for other folks. Frozen fruit on the list and I thought OK that's a bit odd, given the season. But got some anyway and turns out it was for cooking as crumbles.

Erm, we are in the season of abundant fruitfulness are we not. I have suggested that perhaps the plums/apples/rasps/berries which are abundant at the moment might be nicer.

    :P

So next week I'm back to 21 hours in garden and job share is back from hols and 7 womble, 5 volunteer care.

Lol and I was worried I'd not get enough work.

  • Cleared the CC - all 9.17 of it. :) must have been using more cash this month for stuff as that's the food/petrol card.

    Put £500 into savings.

Yes I heard that too. This is a work more than you normally do month.

Ooh, well done on all those savings! :j :j excellent work :j and it does certainly sound like you've been doing a LOT of work

Can't wait to have a garden full of food :) one day... in the meantime I haven't even got round to preserving the one thing (gooseberries) that I have managed to grow! And I actually have some raspberries this year :j they're currently overhangig the pavement so everyone has to walk round them :o Not enough to do much with so I just add them to porridge each day when I eat breakfast out there :)

Have a good day cheerful stripey girl :)

Ey up there cheery :) HOpe you're getting some breaks in all that decorating and rasps and porridge sound ace.

I'm all up to my lugs in plums

I've made 8 bottles cordial and 3 boxes of fruit plum 'compote' to freeze into breakfast portions, and now I'm going a bit off piste.

We don't really eat jam or chutney but I did find this recipe and I'm having a go at chinese plum sauce we do like a bit of a duck pancake. Might do the potted plums too although too sweet for me perhaps.........

Dear lord dont' get me started on the apples that are ripening.

    :D

Subby in the meal plan I have a fish curry and extra fish to use up.

ETA the kitchen now smells like a lush chinese takeaway emporium. :T:rotfl:
