I was amazed to see that my peas and broad beans survived a hailstorm so vicious this morning that it set my car alarm off! Really annoyed though, one entire tray of seedlings hasn't come up. It's a mix of two types of tomato and one brussels sprout, they're in the same compost in the same cold frame watered at the same time and rotated around positions as all the rest, but an entire tray of nearly 40 seeds has failed to germinate whereas all the rest have popped up no bother. Weird.0

Morning stripey gang!
Wet here too, intermittent but heavy.
Not all my seeds have come up either Caz, I planted 3 types of climbing beans, one set are all up and doing well, one type only 2 out of 12 have appeared so far, and the third has a score of zero out of 8 seeds planted. Maybe they're just late starters?0 -
Seeds can be a bit pesky can't they.
Poor both of you.
Hello all of you lovely MSE'rs
After a very early up watching the election and a bit of editing/reviewing for DS last assignment, I am torn between writing up some work stuff or a day in sunshhine and relative windless day in the garden.
Its my 'weekend' as I'm workign on sunday.
I think the garden/wood pile and associated chores around the garden are calling don't you.
There's no point in having a productive garden if you don't work in it right..........:P
Spends yesterday were work relatedand a free lunch
Dinner was from stores and made chilli, froze the other half of the mince and made enough rice to freeze an additional portion.
2 eggs today, hens fed and happy.
Can I make it a NSD and a NDD?
I must make a list for shopping for next week, we need some dug fud but I can ask Mr Me to get some on way home if I'm cheeky.
Need to look at spends and check bank, wages might be in woop woop.
Might have two years guaranteed 1 day a week if we get this next round of funding. Which is reassuring.
Funny as Greying said the focus has really changed for some bits of life for me.
Priorities really need to be keeping our food spends as low as possible and the food delish.
Reducing house spends like fuel etc if we can by foraging for free wood and being as energy efficient as possible.
Being as green as possible.
Starting to think about pension and savings if possible.
Ponders and ponders more.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Wages in and £300 paid to cc for spends and some to reduce holiday spend on it from April.
Tried to reduce o/d online by 25 this month but can't do it like that must go in. Blah.
Nice to have weekly wages in again.
Think I need to go back to a spending diary................keep an eye on what I'm doing.

I did my budget and I can't be doing things right, or I'm giving more to the kids than I think or frittering more. Income is now a regular four days a week, so that's gone up (aside being off sick, must check my SI insurance, forgot to do that) but not seeing any holes in my overdraft yet.
I think I need to keep a spending diary. Like pronto. Don't get me wrong I think I know where its going, and I think its mainly into the garden/galavanting and the kids.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Pesky money, misbehaving as soon as your back is turned  Mine has been doing similarly spendy things, but is now being closely watched and seems to be towing the line again, thank goodness!
Was going to plant some seeds today but tis p*ssing down so I'm tackling inside sorting instead (well, actually, if I'm perfectly honest I'm sat drinking a cup of tea and pottering round the forumsBut I did bring a roll of bin liners up to the attic with me - good intentions!) :rotfl: :rotfl:
Rescued some basil, coriander and parsley from supermarket the other day :j Sadly I only planted about half of it, and left the rest on the table outside meaning to get back to it. That was about, er, last Monday:rotfl:

cheery
I've just planted the onions I put in to 'soak' a week past friday.
LOL!!
Pesky money indeed, maybe its just attention seeking.
I will keep my eyes on it.
I look around and know I need to do some clearing up but its dry and I've finally managed to start my seeds.
I've also decided I'm going to start sowing root crops and salad crops in the 'gaps' in the newly dug flower beds, cos its efficient. Nothing at all do to with all four of my veg beds as of yet still being undug.
No no no.
Its cos I'm efficient see.
Now I have the new hose I can plant me seeds too, which is waht I'm telling myself. The lack of hose stopped me.
So I've 20+ trays ready to sow.
So far I've done
onions
salad onions
lettuce mixes (in window boxes)
calendula
broad beans
spinach (normal and perpetual)
Many more to do but I came in for an ice-lolly (soz)
