ITV comps - what am I doing wrong?

I have been entering every single ITV comp for the past FIVE years using 26, yes 26 different phone numbers. That's 156 entries for each comp that allows 6 entries per number, 130 for 5 entries per number, and 78 for 3 entries per number..........AND I HAVEN'T WON A SINGLE THING!

If you are wondering how I manage to use so many phone numbers; I use my mobile and landline, and then I use each of the 24 different DDI phone numbers in my office at work, all of which are in a team hunt call group and can be put through to me if ITV should call so I am basically contactable on a total of 26 numbers...

How on earth can I not have won anything at all so far?!? It's soooo frustrating.....

i think as you're using so many numbers they've flagged your name up and banned you

156 entries into a competition with many hundreds of thousands of entries (or more) is not that great, maybe odds of around 7,000 to 1, so for the big competitions on average you might have a win about every 100 years or so.

At least you will be saving some time now as they start to switch to postal entries.

Sax has a point... Sometimes trying to hard is not worth it... :o

From now on, it'll be costing you money to enter anyway! If you enter one postcard per number that's c. £13 per comp in entry fees...

question is - will you have to share a win with the people who'll put the call through

if so i do hope you win a real deal prize where it didn;t sell
  • No, I checked this out already with ITV and they confirmed what their T&C's say - the entries are per phone number even if it is the same person entering. There are no rules against multiple entries from the same person using different phone numbers..
  • When are they switching to postal entries? Are you sure this will be for every single ITV competition?

personally - and don't take this the wrong way but i think you're bloody stupid in doing too many for such long odds

Do you buy 10 lottery tickets as that decreases the odds too?

So how are you entering the latest ones? Are you doing 26 postcards, or sticking to 1 or 2?

Somewhere on another thread, I wrote down the astronomical cost of paid entries, and how much one needs to win on average every X years to just break even. It was scary
