Can i have more than one MBNA Card

Just done a eligibility check on money transfer cards, of which the results show I have a 90% chance of obtaining one from both, Virgin and MBNA.

As I already have a MT card from them already, what is the likely hood of obtaining another one as both of these cards are effectively owned by MBNA?

Do any of you have both an MBNA card and a Virgin Card?

Thanks in advance

In my experience it depends on how long you've had the first MBNA-issued card. I've just got the American Airlines card from them after the third time of applying (and being declined) - I was told the original two declines were because I had my first MBNA card less than twelve months.

So I now have two MBNA cards - I've heard from people on here who have had up to five at a time.
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

I've currently got 3x (American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Fluid), most at one time was four (recently cancelled MBNA Platinum) and have previously had the Virgin Money card too.

MBNA are a little different in that they have a total amount they're willing to lend you, and if you get declined for one you can usually shuffle limits around between the cards and get the decline overturned if you call them.

I got the AA card after only having the Platinum for 7 months, the Fluid four months later, the Virgin Atlantic five months after that, having not being a cardholder for a few years before the Plat, but in the past I had held the Virgin Money card for several years.

You need to address your existing debt before taking on more. MBNA are unlikely to give you another card.

OP - as has been stated above, MBNA have an amount that they are willing to lend to you and are normally quite happy for that amount to be spread over multiple cards.

When I applied for my third MBNA card sometime ago the underwriters called me to arrange to move limits around so that I could be approved for the third card.

What, precisely, does "address your existing debt" mean?

Why? OP doesn't specify their income or other circumstances. MBNA may well be willing to lend.

If they have £19k debt and no income, in rented accommodation, you may well be right, but they don't state that. £19k debt on a £100k income in an unmortgaged £1m house is the other end of the scale :o

That's the idea of applying for another Money Transfer Card, to transfer a loan to 0%, which in turn will be doing just that, addressing my existing debt.

Yes I have an MBNA and a Virgin card. MBNA had limit of £18k and VC £5k. I called them and they switched the balances around giving me £18k on Virgin which is at 0% for 29 months so was able to transfer some expiring 0 % balances to it. All will be paid within the offer period. very helpful staff.
  • Well, I decided to bite the bullet and apply for the MBNA card, once I was sent through to their website, I was offered a 0% but only over 18 months, which TBH is much better than a kick in the teeth, only downside is that I didn't get an instant answer as to wether or not I have been accepted.

Days have gone by since applying, and I'm happy to say that I have been accepted for a money transfer of £4000, which will go toward my highest interest loan, in the hope of tackling my mountain of debt a lot quicker than planned. :)
