Thanks, if you don't mind me asking - How long did they take to let you know and how were you told i.e letter, email, call, text?
I applied at 9am. Got left several answer phone messages at about 12pm asking me to call them back. Called them back and was told I was declined.
Got a letter about 2 days later saying the same. I'm still mystified as to why they didn't just email or send the letter and why they needed me to call them back!0 -
Got accepted, but had to call.
The online procedure seemed to say if I already have TescoBank products, then they could do it quicker, so I clicked to say I have a credit card, and the next screen just says please call !?
So I called the number, and she just did the application from scratch. Didn't want the credit card number even though I offered, and just wanted my Club Card number. She asked for permission to do a credit check, which they had to do for the credit card last year, of course.0 -
I've not heard anything yet but I suspect that's because it's the weekend.0

Firstly you can pay cash or cheques into Co-op or Santander current accounts via the post office (Nationwide you can't but they have nearly as big a branch network as most banks)
If a bank I don't have a branch for locally offered a top deal with no post office access I'd still grab it.
All you need to do is keep an account open with one of your local ones, if you have Internet access (you're on here so I assume you have!!!) pay into that then feed it straight to the account you want to use via online banking, it takes about 2 minutes on a computer and about 30 seconds on a smart phone with an app. With faster payments it even goes through near instantaneously now.
My main current account is Santander 123 (I use others for high interest for excess cash too but that's the only one I actually use) nearest branch is about 10 miles away (nearest post office about 0.5 miles) I wouldn't swap it for another account if another bank opened a branch next door to my house (unless they offered a better deal!)If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.
If you do like it please hit the thanks button.0 -
Just a wee update, I missed a couple calls from Tesco then the sent me a letter asking me to call their 0845 number rather than the geographical number they called me from.
Anyway, I called back and was accepted.0 -
I'm about to open a couple of Tesco current accounts, but I was just wondering if anyone else has the same problems with "Tesco Bank" website as I do. I have a couple of Tesco savings accounts (only to use for the DDs for Halifax Reward and Lloyds Club accounts), and EVERY time I log on, it tells me it doesn't recognise my computer and I have to go through the tedious process of them sending me a txt to be able to log on (even though I tick the remember me box).0

Everybody who deletes their cookies / browsing history can have that issue.
If you get yourself the free version of ccleaner, configure it to keep Tesco cookies, and only use ccleaner to clean your browser, you won't have that problem on your regular PC.
You'll still have the issue if you use a different computer.0 -

I don't have ccleaner, and the problem still occurs if I haven't deleted cookies/browsing history. I don't have this problem with any other bank/building society.0 -
If you don't delete your cookies, something does it for you. The only reason for the message is that your Tesco cookies cannot be found.0

I notice that if outgoing standing orders fall due on a bank holiday (like today 25-Aug) Tesco bank process them on that day not like other banks who process them the next working day. Not a big deal - but might matter to people using an overdraft especially if near the limit.0
