A milk round is a business.... so it needs enough customers to make it profitable enough to offer the service.... that means that a milk round has to have several hundred customers and they can't all be delivered at the same time. Sounds like you're at the start of his round.

but as the weather gets warmer I'm getting warm (or at least poorly chilled) milk in to put on our cereal. Surely it can't be food safe either?!

What time do you get the milk off your doorstep?

I've never known it to be hot enough that the milk is getting warm on the doorstep at 7.30/8am.
  • It never did us any harm as kids, when we were lucky (or unlucky if you didn't like it) to have a bottle of school milk, at mid morning break.
It could be frozen in Winter or very warm in Summer, but I always drunk it, and enjoyed it. None of the health and safety brigade then!

There is no milk delivery in my road at all. Would like to have that option as I did in my previous flat. Thought it had died out completely here.

I get a 1L bottle delivered once on a Monday and once on a Thursday. In summer it can get a bit warm but it still lasts 3-4 days before it starts to turn.

We usually get it in around 7/7:30ish. There have been a few times where its been getting warmish by then.

If you're having milk delivered daily I doubt it would cause any health risks. If you're keeping the milk a few days it may not last as long as if it had been kept at 5 degrees. What do you think people did before refrigeration at home was affordable/available?

We get 4 pints 3 times a week; Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday. To be fair, we've never noticed it not lasting long enough; just thought it odd & wanted to see if its the norm or we've got a bit of a cowboy.

We pay £1.80 for the four pinter. I know its much more than supermarkets but I like the convenience as I live in a village and supporting a local farmer.
Spend less now, work less later.
