Milkman delivering between 1am & 3am

Options
This may be better suited elsewhere, but I couldn't decide.
Just wondering if this is common from anyone else who has their milk delivered (or who delivers milk). It's not so bad in the winter (other than getting frozen milk the odd time); but as the weather gets warmer I'm getting warm (or at least poorly chilled) milk in to put on our cereal. Surely it can't be food safe either?!

    Quite normal.

Put a polystyrene box on the doorstep and ask him to put the milk in it.

Get a cool box and leave it for milk to put in.

At least you get the milk before leaving for work. That is why i gave up with milkman last time as it didn't come until mid morning and then sat there all day (if it wasn't stolen).

Ask him to ring the doorbell when he delivers. You can pop downstairs and have your cereal then put it in the fridge. Now you can have a lie in as you won't need to get up so early to have cereal just before leaving for work. Simples:D

Thanks for the replies. Looks like my parents are the exception (i.e. what I'd been used to before) where it would arrive around 5:30/6ish.

Don,t know how they get away with delivering milk in an un refrigerated vehicle & leave it un refrigerated on your doorstep for several hours.
Why do the supermarkets have to keep milk at 5 degrees or below ??
& the milkman can just ignore all the regulations ????

If you're having milk delivered daily I doubt it would cause any health risks. If you're keeping the milk a few days it may not last as long as if it had been kept at 5 degrees. What do you think people did before refrigeration at home was affordable/available?
