Buyer still wants faulty item

Can i ask if the dvd sold cheaply?
Because there is a problem these days with some sellers[not that i think you are one] not getting the price they wanted , and then saying oh sorry its faulty i have to cancel the sale.
it only takes 1 or 2 sellers to do this to a buyer for them to think seller wants to back out because they didnt get the price they wanted.
Which may explain why they said they still wanted to continue with the sale.0 -

I listed at 99p and didn't even expect it to sell, having looked at the completed listings, but it did for about £4. And when I told my friend the princely sum, he laughed and said it was a bargain considering it doesn't play.
Of course there are sellers out there who don't like the price it's sold for so cancel it - it's a shame she's labelled me a liar because of these people. But I weighed it up and thought if I send it, she'll find it faulty and request a refund anyway.0 -
It always seems to be women who leave the spiteful negative comments, I wonder why that is?

It might just need a proper polish, some games shops do a resurfacing for scratched discs.
Your friend is an idiot trying to trash your ebay reputation. Punch him.0 -

It made a lot of strange noises and said disc error on the screen. It was a box set and did it on 2 out of 4 of the discs, and the others took forever to load up anyway so were probably on their way out. Can't think what he did to them to get them into that state.

Is your friend expecting you to pay them after selling their DVD?I listed at 99p and didn't even expect it to sell, having looked at the completed listings, but it did for about £4. And when I told my friend the princely sum, he laughed and said it was a bargain considering it doesn't play.0 -
Well your friend should have said the DVD was faulty from the start, but when you decided to list it, why didn't you try it first to see if it played ok?
Sometimes you have stuff you remember working fine, but then you go and use it and find it's stopped working all of a sudden.
Never ever list stuff without checking if it's in working condition beforehand. It'd have avoided you the negative feedback, despite your friend not telling you it was faulty.
One negative feedback won't be the end of the world anyway

Oh the joys of selling for friends. Over the years I've been asked to sell a table for collection only, with the instructions to photograph it carefully so they can't see the obvious repair to the leg. A branded handbag that the chap they bought it from at the pub swore was genuine...and much worse.
