  • Done it, and stirring! Our water is so hard it tastes of pure chlorine to me. I have been boiling it and letting it cool but I am still bored with it. I am also waiting for caffeine withdrawals anytime now, I would usually be on around mug five. At least the coke might save me from that!

That's one of the things I love about living in Scotland - our water is soft and tastes nice. Also its free which is as it should be when it never stops raining.

I have managed not to bite my nails since Christmas so have painted them a metallic, sparkly green so I'm not tempted to bite them.

    It's the Brain Pathway Theory.

The brain pathway that rules going out clubbing starts shutting down just as the pathway that rules gardening begins opening up.
    It's a well-known phenomenonemeneom.mm.m.

That and visiting garden centres and the national trust.
The "I don't care if I freeze because I'm looking good" pathway is also replaced by the "you'll catch your death in that" pathway.

Now I've made myself feel old as well.

That pathway is closely coupled to the 'any old shoes as long as they're comfortable all day' and the 'couldn't care less what I look like if I'm warm and the waistband isn't too tight' pathways.

We pay a water/sewerage charge as part of our council tax but above that, nothing.

Yup. No matter what I wear, I need a coat. And I wont wear sandals in winter for anyone!

This. Especially the waistband thing. I have been known to do the hair tie on tight jeans trick this year.

Mind you, I elected some time ago to change over to metered bills, as it was cheaper than having them based on rates, in my situation.
The rule of thumb is, that if you have more bedrooms than there are people living in the house, it's usually cheaper to be on a meter.. Certainly true in my case, but then I am very careful with water, too.

I've just been naughty and bought myself some new perfume. DH got me some lovely perfume for Christmas and gave me some samples and I fell in love with Calvin Klein Reveal. So I bought some.

So aside from the lurgified amongst us, are there any party animals going out tonight, or will you all be joining me on the settee with a good film and a blanket/OH/dog (delete as appropriate.)?
Tbh I was never that fussed about NYE, even in my slightly more energetic days- I was generally to be found lurking in the kitchen.
