Have I missed something in my skim reading oldestgnome? Where are you off to?
Happy birthday jobbingmusician, hoping the birthday fairy brought you a lovely day. Have you had cake? And if so, is there any left? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I mentioned some time ago I am off travelling for 6 months elsien around south america
. So no you haven't missed anything
Perhaps you had birthday pannetonne?0 -
Not jealous. Not at all turning green around the edges.
( Not least because I'm not brave enough to do something like that, I wish I were.)
9 days and counting. Wow. Much left to do? Are you being a headless chicken or a swan, all serene on the surface and paddling like crazy down below?
Edit - actually now you've said I do remember you posting before which was when my Galapagos envy kicked in.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Oh, silly me! I expect crow carried them up!
Either that, or they did what the elephants do and sat on an acorn and waited for Spring!
6 months around South America! Unlike Elsien I am jealous, and I am quite verdant!
Don't forget to give us details of your blog, if that's at all possible, that is! Then we won't have to wait 6months to hear all about it!
(If it would compromise your anonymity, no worries, we'll wait for the occasional post you may be able to do!)
Whitewing, I quite like PugPie! It fits with the thread!
JM must be having a whale of a birthday! Haven't heard from her since this morning!
Hmm, I hope there is some cake left!(I just lurve spiders!)

I love :eek:0 -
Will be better when I've finished work as that is the biggest stress ATM. Going for the swan but probably more headless chicken if I'm honest
There have been many second, third and fourth thoughts elsien. Mostly for me it's about hoping the group dynamics are good and I come home feeling like I can stop looking for the something I have been seeking for a very long time, hence the mindfulness. This thread has given me lots of resources and thought provoking ideas. So thank you to you all.

Thank you all for your lovely birthday wishes. Yes, I've had a lovely day. I watched a couple of episodes of 'House MD' with DH, then set out for London. That was a bit fraught, as both the Met and Jubilee lines are undergoing maintenance. I had planned to use the Bakerloo, but there was some crisis, so I had to drive a few miles to the Central line and the journey in took AGES - I was only just in time for the performance! (Technically late, then...)
The opera went well. I prepared for total senility by forgetting my phone, so couldn't go out for drinks even if I'd wanted to. (I did think of ringing DH from someone else's phone, then realised I don't know either his mobile number or the phone number of where we are staying, off by heart )
So I haven't really had a celebration. DH was actually rather cross when I broke it to him, a couple of weeks ago, that there was an opera performance today, as he'd planned to take me out for a meal. I'll have to work on him to take me out another night instead. (He's pretending that another day won't do, still. But he was also pretending that he hadn't got the right present for me, as well.... and he had)
Anyway, may I use Birthday Privilege to make a suggestion? I love the way this thread is so busy, with so many posts so quickly, but in some ways I think we need to slow it down a bit. I'm going to make two personal resolutions which I think it might be helpful for everyone to adopt.
1. Unless I directly ask for help, I won't get offended if no-one responds to a post for at least a week, especially if it is about a complicated subject. It will feel like a long time, but others might be thinking about it and reading back in the thread (like I do sometimes!) so I won't complain at a lack of response for a week.
2. If I post a picture which will only be on the site for a very short while, I will try to remember to say that regular posters are welcome to contact me for a copy. (That's because it can be very frustrating to miss a photo which is only up for a short while, but of course it's totally understandable that photos ARE only up for a short time!) If I forget to say it, just PM me for a copy!!!!
Are these helpful suggestions, or am I just being a pain?
ETA - bright green. Columbia envy (tinged with fear.) I had a friend who was besotted with Columbia, said it was perfectly safe and started a business importing fruit pulp from there. I've lost touch with her nowShe introduced me to physalis - another good thing to try (available in Waitrose, in season).
ETA again - sorry, this post is darting around. I think there is also a risk of people coming across as cross when what they really are is upset. I have made a provisional resolution to assume that people are upset rather than angry on the thread (I would like to do this in life as well but it's far more difficult in 'real life'!)
ETA AGAIN - I don't feel I've said thank you properly for the lovely pictures! I'll write more about these tomorrow as there are some things to say!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
So glad to read you got a lovely gift JM
. Hope you also have a lovely belated birthday meal! And you made it in time (just) for opera
I think both of your suggestions are good ones.
ETA JM I agree with your ETA on your above post I think upset can come across as angry on a forum. I would expect it's upset..0
