Royal Mail, Idiots again!

Their website states their delivery aim to India is 5-7 days
Recently sent an item around £150 there.
Took 6 weeks. Buyer had got his money back via paypal claim, and is now refusing to pay / ignoring emails.
Can't claim to Royal Mail because item has been delivered.
THey said it would take 5-7 days, so can I open a small claims court claiming their information is false, as the parcel took 6 weeks
Have several other cases like this too...

Just a quick question really.
What service did you use and do you know that once Royal Mail have processed an item from the UK and passed it on to the relevant postal service in the recipient country, it is no longer Royal Mail actually delivering the item, thus they cannot determine the timescales.
In this instance, if sent here via Royal Mail, it would be passed on to http://www.indiapost.gov.in/ to deliver the item.
Royal Mail do not have postal delivery people in every country throughout the world0 -

What service did you send up? Airmail, or surface mail? as it looks like it may have gone by sea.
Royal Mail have no control over it once it leaves the UK.0 -
I used International Signed For!
The estimate was 5-7 days
Buyer opened a case after 4 weeks, got money refunded 10 days later, item was delivered a few days after they got their money back.
Buyer now ignores all communicationThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

We rely on postal services around the world, which means that unfortunately we can’t offer a guaranteed delivery time, and we can’t compensate for delays or missing Track & Trace information.0 -
It could be the item was not able to be sent by air as well - this is also something to consider.
Most important point here is as game_over states, once passed to another country, Royal Mail cannot guarantee delivery times. Where did the estimated delivery time of 5-7 days come from?0 -

Actually, I can see where you got the day estimation from and I have to point out that the service which quotes this is not the service you opted to use. International signed for (the service you used) is not the same as international track & signed (the service you assume you used on the basis of the timescales you are quoting)0 -
I take it you've never been to India, or many parts of the world where the postal system works by hand and miracle. We are extremely lucky to have such a great system in the UK.
My wife would send me letters in Abu Dhabi or Dubai much closer and very modern cities, still takes at least 3 weeks once the letter enters the country0 -
But why do Royal Mail state 5-7 days, that is ridiculous.
Surely thats false advertising? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
