:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: at the morons bit, yes I know it is bad watching the soaps, but I cant help it, but the commentary is getting on my nerves.

Have not got the audio description, we cant find it, going through all the settings buttons, thought it was the 3d button to start with, but not that.

I found out about 'audio description' (no idea how to change it on your settings btw, so sorry I'm of no use here) only very recently - when I saw one of the sports channels being fined or warned, whatever it was, by Ofcom for not providing enough. It's, I suspect, very useful for blind or visually-impaired people. However, I was interested enough to go and watch part of EastEnders (we don't normally watch that programme anyway - always used to prefer Corrors but nowadays we don't get much time for either - I think I lost the habit during a period of university study). I went and watched a bit of EastEnders with audio description and - actually it's extremely good for me!!:T:T It was describing how someone looked at another of the characters - and it described how 'she gives him a [look of a certain sort]'. Now, I never even noticed that just from the programme itself! Adds a whole new dimension to TV programmes that I never even realised was there.

I have Asperger's (don't you well know it:D:rotfl:) and part of my Asperger's - part perhaps specific to me? - is that I almost never seem to get any plotline or story from any TV programme at all. It's the way I've always seen things and, until quite recently, I didn't even realise that my interpretation was so completely different to how 'most people' (presumably) see things. Now - that's why I would find it hard to describe any storyline from a film or TV programme! But, if I read [reed] a film review...

A film (or TV programme) review will tell me what's happened in a film - e.g. the storyline. Now I never get any of that from actually watching the film! I see things happen in films, I hear what people say, I sometimes put subtitles on as I like to be able to read it as well as hear it sometimes, but I don't usually identify a plot or 'storyline'. You might think 'how sad' (or 'how odd'). But I've never seen it any other way during my life (bit of sensory processing disorder:D maybe?) and I still get enriched and entertained by the way I which I do see/hear things. Interesting (...or it is 'interesting', in its own way, to me anyway).

I've no idea how people more generally see films or how they get the 'gist' that's in them.

There I was... for many many years... reading a film review and finding out all sorts of things I'd never got from the film and sort of very slightly wondering why but the matter never hit me until quite recently with my Asperger's and realisation, when I later went way in depth into that, of how differently I interpret things compared to 'most people' - of which I was completely oblivious and unaware of before. I also found out other things when I was diagnosed (well into my adulthood) too. I'd never been able to write a college essay or concentrate in any [Strike]degree[/Strike] extent at all if there was any music on the background. Apparently that's linked to being autistic too! Or so the diagnoser told me! Now I never knew that. I couldn't drive with the radio on at all either, so it's always kept entirely off. I can bearly concentrate on the treadmill in the gyms sometimes.

I suspect - I may be wrong - that audio description is (or originally was) intended for blind/visually-impaired people. Well, if so, it has the very very helpful side-effect of being extremely helpful for (some or many) people with Asperger's and adds a whole new dimension for me:T:T:T:j. What a boon!:T:)

(:rotfl:I wish it was on the News Channel, so that I could then hear... well, the newsreader's actually really bored with what they're telling you!:rotfl::rotfl::D "Chris Eakin - looks over, gives a wistful smile." Now I never even detected anything was "wistful":rotfl:. Na - that was it - that was actually the smile on EastEnders - regret or longing - now I missed all of that! So, if (or as) I'm not detecting that people are showing regret or longing, that's possibly, or probably, one part of why I'm not getting any storyline.)
