Yay for hubby bubbs...must be weird when your use to seeing things in a certain way for it all to become so much clearer yet what you had before you think is normal ( oh I know what I mean ) :rotfl:

Thank you and I think you can only vote once and not daily :)

    Thank you :)

    Thanks bubbs :)

My sister had her switch on yesterday and it didn't go to well .. In fact it was horrible :( it was nothing like all these wonderful videos you see.
To cut a long story short my sister has never had any hearing so the brain can not interpret the sounds and when they switched it on it caused her a lot of discomfort and was horrible to see BUT there is still hope.
As she used to wear hearing aids there are noises she is familiar with now theses noises she is familiar the brain is recognising (good sign)
The hospital have said that she will always be deaf but with brain and speech training and adjustment hopefully over time she will be able to interpret the boing sounds she is hearing into recognisable voices :)

    Thanks for asking :)

I am so sorry ILTS to hear it did not go as expected for your sister. Must have been an awful shock to her. :(

My DD3 had grommits aged 2 and they reckoned she had not been able to hear for about a year, it was frightening for her to suddenly be able to hear everything for the first time. We took her out few days later and when a motor bike went by she almost jumped out of her skin and screamed so soundly. And for several years really loud noises would still shake her. They had to change at pre school to clapping to the days of the week softly when she was in, she just couldn't cope with it. :(

I can't imagine how it must be for your sister, I hope there is some degree of success for her in the future. :A

ah, what a bittersweet post - i hope things get better for her. It must be really frightening to never hear and then get noise. How old is your sis?
