    Good morning :)

The conversation started off with me being concerned that he's not drinking enough during the day. It's been very hot here the last few days. This led to him telling me that if he drinks he needs to wee and therefore use the school toilets which he won't do because they're 'disgusting'. I'm not 100% sure what he means by that but I don't think it's down to worrying about germs. He's not the best at explaining some things clearly, as far as I can make out they're very messy........it's a school with nearly 1000 kids so I suppose that's not that unusual. Whatever he means by 'messy and disgusting' it's enough for him to avoid them.

The problem I have is that I also avoid public toilets wherever possible because I feel exactly the same as you! And with me it is because of germs and multiple people using the same space. He knows this, so it's difficult for me to preach to him that he should be doing something I avoid myself :o he ran rings round me last night :o
Don't worry, you're not the only one who has hovvered in an impossible position with a handbag dangling from you in a public loo, after using a tissue to open the door, close the lock and touch the flusher :o:o :D

I can see you and Evangeline would not "DO" festivals.

I don't know what happened to me but I have got much better at using public conveniences of any description. Occasionally I still do line the seat with paper. :o

I always have wipes or hand gel in my handbag though, I could not cope without being able to clean my hands after. Wipes might have come in handy for Suzie the other day. (sorry Em, that was horrible experience for you. :()

    Thank you :)

    Thanks bubbs :)

My sister had her switch on yesterday and it didn't go to well .. In fact it was horrible :( it was nothing like all these wonderful videos you see.
To cut a long story short my sister has never had any hearing so the brain can not interpret the sounds and when they switched it on it caused her a lot of discomfort and was horrible to see BUT there is still hope.
As she used to wear hearing aids there are noises she is familiar with now theses noises she is familiar the brain is recognising (good sign)
The hospital have said that she will always be deaf but with brain and speech training and adjustment hopefully over time she will be able to interpret the boing sounds she is hearing into recognisable voices :)

    Thanks for asking :)

Awww im so sorry:( this has bought tears to my eyes, fingers crossed everything gets better for her, without hope we have nothing xxx

    Morning everyone.

Please has anyone any suggestions as to what to do about a cat who is washing herself constantly.

Its a girl cat so they wash more anyway and she has got delicate skin as she had a bad start -shrew bite when she was little and she is always in the wars.

She has some bald patches on her back end which the vet says are alopechia - OH was convinced she was at deaths door and insisted we take her but the vet said nothing to worry about.

She has had the worming tablet and flea drops so it's not lack of condition. She is fed away from her brothers on her own so it's not stress at meal times.

Everyone is off dry food now as OH is convinced all the cats are dehydrated so all on wet - they get a mixture of gravy and jelly pouches, three different types including high meat content

I've sent for some of the calming powders to mix in with her food although I don't think they will make much difference.

My gut instinct is that its more a general skin thing rather than a stressed out cat but OH does not agree.

In fact I think OH is more of the problem than she us - he spends hours discussing various theories as to why she has bald patches and even rings me from work with more theories, each madder than the rest. Last night he was convinced she wasn't eating and that was why she was loosing condition. It was no use me telling him that during the day if she shows up she gets fed by herself in the kitchen - boys eat outside or on the lawn. It's me that feeds her about 90% of the time and no she is not starving.

Right now the boys are asleep by the patio door, one inside a cardboard box and Sophie is curled on my lap fast asleep, not licking herself and not a care in the world and certainly not a stressed cat.

This sounds exactly the problem my female cat had years ago, and my vet at the time diagnosed it as a hormone problem. She was given a tablet, don't think it was daily, think weekly but it's too long ago to remember. But all her fur grew back she stopped the incessant cleaning and pulling and tugging at her fur. And became a much more relaxed cat. It may be worth googling, so sorry can't remember what she was given but she had to take it rest of her cat life. HTHs

    Just found this mhoc

My cat had had one lot of kittens and then was neuteured. Not sure whether that makes a difference.

And the vet did not bother with any blood tests that I can remember. Just gave us the medication for her. I do wish I could recall what it was. :o
