I had someone run into the back of my car, was parked at the doctors surgery, and when I cam back all the back end was smashed in, they just drove off and left it, no note at all.

That's horrible, not to say illegal!:(:(

I'm really sorry to hear about so many people having their cars damaged recently, especially those who don't know who the perpetrator was so will be left footing the bill for someone else's mistake. However, there is another side to this scenario.

My dd managed to clip another car while reversing in a supermarket car park a few months ago so she went into the shop and spoke to customer services. They did an announcement over the tannoy asking for the owner of vehicle registration xyz to come to the CS desk. When the man came over my dd started to apologise and explain but he got so angry and threatening that CS called security. The CS and security guy managed to calm the man down (CS told him how lucky he was that my dd was honest enough to come and let him know as people rarely do).

The man then went out to look at his car and dd showed him that there was only a small crack in his rear light and no scratches or dents to any bodywork. He tested his lights and indicators were still working (which they were) and saw that DD's car was totally unscathed. All the time this was going on he was being very aggressive and unpleasant to dd. She found him intimidating and felt rather frightened.

He told dd he would get a quote for the replacement casing and let her know how much. He put pressure on her to agree that she would pay for the repair herself rather than make an insurance claim as he said he didn't want the hassle of filling in all the forms (this is understandable but he had no right to try and intimidate a young woman into agreeing to this). He told dd that it wouldn't be more than £50 to have a new casing fitted so she agreed and gave him her contact details.

A week later he rang her and said that the garage had found extensive damage to the wheel arch and back panel as well as needing to replace the whole rear light, which he said was damaged beyond repair. He tried to get her to agree to pay more than £800!:eek::eek: He was obviously a chancer, trying to make money out of my dd's honest attempt to take responsibility for her mistake.

I use that too, it's all the same stuff really. I'm curious does your missus run/work in a bakery or is it a hobby for both of you?

It's purely a hobby. The missus started dabbling on her mat leave and now it 's become pretty much our present for every friend /family member

    On an early morning mission.

I have to rehome Phyllis today :(

and only to the right home

Poor Phyllis - lovely cat - on her own or with the boys - does not mix with female cats :(

Separated my cat last night & shut her in bedroom with me & she jumped out of the window
