Packing box has come loose at side, buy some strong staples or just use a lot of tape

I got 2 massive boxes from a local guitar shop, I can fit pretty much everything left to pack in it(which is heavy things like xbox, playstation, blu ray, sky box, my old wii, gamecube, xbox etc but that means its going to be VERY heavy
Luckily it wont have to be lifted very far, I live on the ground floor of current flat and when they have opened front door its like 30 seconds(maybe half) without furniture to lorry and there is 2 removal men and when get to new place its up 1 flight of stairs that are wide.
I just worry that with the weight it may split, I have another box almost as big so I may not even need this one its just I wanted to put all my little boxes of various lengths and heights into the large box that way it would be easier to strap down 1 big box than loads of little ones
So with that in mind shall I just buy a staple gun and staple it loads of times then put tape on the area where the staples are(i.e the join)
Or shall I just use about 3 or 4 entire large rolls of packing tape and wrap it around box.

Are you serious!?
You cannot staple a cardboard box with a staple gun.
Just pack all the heavy stuff in smaller boxes! The removal men will not thank you for achieving one massively secure, massively heavy box with all your stuff in it.0 -
I used duct tape to secure the bases of our boxes when we moved. However, I would not put so many fairly valuable items in one box since that is a LOT of stuff to smash if it gets dropped or comes undone.0

Don't over fill boxes.0

I meant a proper staple gun, not a cheap one, other solution is to remove the large staples/bolts whatever they are and just bend them into new holes.
And as for the weight, well I have lifted all the items I want to put in here in a smaller box when I moved here and I could lift it as could the person that helped me I am not talking in terms of a few dozen kg I am talking about 8 electronic consoles/players then some dvds on top, I can get everything in a much smaller box.0 -
Go to your local 24 hour supermarket about 10pm - ask the nappy guys if you you can have their boxes.. they are large thinck -a nd will be free..
IF those are not big enough - try 'crisp boxes' .. less big - but still easy enough to cut down..
I foudn the removal men could lift things i couldn't and were far happier with heavier loads than i'd have been..
but there is heavy and un realisstic"!0 -
Do you have a McDs or KFC near you? The boxes that contain the drinking cups, burger boxes etc are very strong.
A few months ago, someone moved into one of the flats near me and left the McD boxes flattened in the bin area. As a colleague was moving the following week, I grabbed the boxes and gave them to her. Very impressed with how strong they are.
I am agreeing with the posters here, don't put everything in one box. If that box with expensive gadgets gets dropped.0 -
Mc D's refused to give me any!
But my local outfits gave me a few strong clothes ones - taht were quite big - and evenly sized to balancce!0 -
We've been hitting up the local 'buy everything from here' shop for boxes. Try a smaller shop0

Watch out for next weeks installment....."I have just sat on the toilet and something came out , what do I do now ?"Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0
