I actually sent a letter with that article just last week :rotfl: not sure if they will have it or not yet. Had no phone calls but I asked that all correspondence be in writing.
Did Robinson way stop all interest for you? My credit file says dmp on it I believe.
They did indeedy! I bet the spokesperson for Halifax quoted in that article doesn't work there anymore!
I actually quite like talking to my creditors on the phone nowadays! Once I got my head around the fact that I don't actually have anything of value for anyone to take and that I am paying as much as I can afford each month so the courts wouldn't do anything either, it was all so much easier! But once you like talking to them they stop calling - might give THEM a call for a chat :rotfl:0 -
Thanks all for your messages of support, it really means a lot xxMFW!

I was with my bank for 25 years but when push came to shove as Ellieseleven said they didn't actually give a fig about our dire straits (all of our own making, what a bunch of numpties we were). I did feel bad at first but then I realised that the 25 years didn't mean anything to them. I paid them back every penny I owed them. I am pleased with the service we are getting from the account we hold now, but am under no illusions that they won't treat us as a number too.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Bit random but I see some of you have a 'DMP Mutual Support' member number in your signatures - do these still exist?

Just realised I have been debt free for a year this month. What a difference a year has made. New home, all new furniture and fittings. No debt, all paid off with the pension lump sum and still lots left, now I don't have the monthly payments to the DMP. Two or three years more working with the added DMP and monthly pension money to build up a nest egg before the State Pension kicks in. As it worked out the DMP was the best thing for me, it meant for five years before the Private Pension kicked in I managed to pay off all my debts so that PP is now all mine and did not have to pay the debts, leaving me with nothing. It was scary for the first few months after realizing I was spending more than I earned and the Bank were not going to let me roll over another loan, so glad they did not now. I hope all your outcomes are as good as mine has worked out. Main thing it is a long haul, so don't scrimp to the bone to get it paid quicker you are more likely to fail that way. Budget to live a comfortable, but not extravagant life. Think of that DMP money that will be yours monthly after it is paid off. It is nice knowing when I buy something it is paid for, even after the year I still don't have a credit card.Paddle No 21 :wave:0

Fantastic post Gibbs and I am so pleased. I hope things work out just like that for me over the next decade or so!!
'Comfortable but not extravagant' says it beautifully and I don't think we could be happier with any other way.

Good to hear from you Gibbs and how fantastic to hear that you are enjoying your debt-free life. I too will be debt-free eight years before my private pension kicks in and it is such a great feeling and a big relief that I won't be carrying all that debt into my retirement.
Take care
