That will be 2 formal defaults - we are getting there
With regards to Hellifax it's just our individual loans to be sorted now. They will contact us separately for that:D
ooh well done...:T...what did you put in the letter to make them default you? All we have managed to get out of them is 6 months 0% and will review it again then. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Also had a letter today (put through neighbour's door so didn't get it until late evening) - N@t West are defaulting me as well:j
So far RBS credit card, NW credit card & Hellifax OD defaulting accounts - great news:T.
3 down, 7 accounts to go.
Also had letters from Virginmoney today. Our 2 CC accounts with them are being transferred to being managed by Virginmoney rather than MBNA. Hope that's a positive thing because MBNA have been absolutely fantastic about the DMP. Will have to wait and see.
Still no response from BC about our letter of complaint about interest though.
Hope everyone else is doing well.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
hello... yep the lull does sometimes come and I do indeed get dmp fatigue - helpfully it's generally interrupted by milestones, or less helpfully by a crisis which them gets resolved (and up goes the dmp rollercoaster once again!) and by trying to get creditors to stop interest/ repay fees etc... but yep, there are definitely moments when it all feels a bit never ending.
Reading the forum thread helps definitely. Keep trucking on!
Yep - I know that feeling well too - 3 and a half years down the line. Milestones within that include Christmas not-on-credit, 3 debts fully paid off, family paid off and mortgage arrears gone. :T Flip side is I have 4 jobs (was 5) and all our stuff/clothes etc are beginning to look tatty and worn. A colleague mentioned that it looked like I could do with some new shoes and suits which embarrassed me as I have tried to keep replacing items...but it's true that my shoes are very worn.
My main job means being smart - suits etc. I did manage to find a nice supermarket one for £34 which has helped but I know I don't keep up with my colleagues. Our current debt free day is 3 years away so we are over the hump but it's a slog and as you say - sometimes feels never ending. I can't do anymore though and nor can DH so just keep going.
My FB was hacked today so I am missing my free, virtual social life  Random friend requests going out to friends of friends. Have had to deactivate account while it is sorted out which is a pain. Keep going fellow DMPers :jDMP since August 2011

So, checked out our state of the nation and debt reduction has slowed down because of BC and their interest adding ways
Still - we are under £50000 which is good news and mortgage now under £150000 so we do have £100000 equity which is reassuring.

well done
To anyone in it for the long haul and getting through it in whatever way works for you.
I liked the idea of a Christmas not in credit as a milestone too.
Regarding renewing clothes, don't dismiss the idea of putting a wanted ad on your local free cycle, I've given loads of reasonable quality clothes away just cos they don't fit and I'm not in a suit wearing job anymore, same with shoes, I've given away good shoes that I can no longer wear. Many people would rather they went to someone working hard rather than someone who will just take them to the recycle shop. If you get stuff you don't like, you just pass it on again. Most times you don't even see the person giving or,collecting, they just leave a bag outside the door etc:eek:Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Hi Phoenix
Thanks for lending me some perspective!
I am also supermarket clad and at times look down right dowdy compared to my colleagues but so be it.
Good idea from Sazzie. I have also in better times donated clothes and even then was always delighted to pick up the odd designer jacket for work from the local charity shop for pounds, not so easy now since they have all gone up market.
Thanks for everyone's replies. Feeling better reading all your posts. Need to build in some more milestones. I'm always excited when the new SC statement is available but sometimes the month seems longer!

We too have to look smart for work and almost all of my clothes are from charity shops and car boot sales. Mr TTFTM's shirts and some ties come from the same places and he's also managed to get trousers, jackets and a very stylish coat too. Last weekend's charity shop haul included a designer leather jacket for him for £10, one inside zip was broken so it must have been discarded for that. I paid the same for a brand new M&S Autograph dress still with price tag of £65. With a jacket on top, it will take me to a client meeting, without it will look fantastic for a wedding or party. We both buy one decent pair of shoes per year from Clarks sale and all undies come from Asda.
A few finds have ended up on ebay instead of the wardrobe so there is the opportunity to make more funds for further forays too
Your DMP budget is supposed to include a clothing allowance, if necessary drop your payment for one month and get yourself kitted out but keep it at a bargain price.
Sorry to hear about FB account, that has happened to me via a email hack and it was a real PITA to sort out.

Hi TTFM
Good ideas about the charity shops. I lack the time to really look because of the many jobs but will go to a couple this afternoon for a browse. My shoes are Clark's but they get so much wear as I walk up and down a lot. I have found an outlet village where I plan to get two pairs after pay day for what I normally spend on one. Most of our clothing budget goes on DD2 who seems to have been in a growth spurt for about 2 years:rotfl: She is now taller than me and I am 5 foot 7...
The FB thing is a nightmare and does not look as though it will be simple to sort out. I had a dream last night that I was having a heated argument with Mark Zuckerberg :eek:so my subconscious is clearly blaming him for it all!

We also have a friend who works for a high end men's wear designer shop. Sometimes he comes round with seconds and end of lines that haven't sold for DH. Some of them are a bit trendy for DH and it is amusing to watch him trying to co-ordinate the freebie Hugo Boss and Versace with his Sainsbury jeans and Aldi bits and bobs. He tries though and it is very kind of our friend who I think suspects our situation.
