Well, it's finally after 5am yay! Having been up since about 3am (thank you drunken people of York) I've decided a quick post isn't too odd LOL
While being a bit of a moot point since my debts will soon be a lot lower I just wanted to say YIPPEE! I've just made this months DMP payment and I'm now officially out of the £12k's and into the £11k bracket!!! Hurrah!!!

We are now under the £18,000 mark, still got a year and a half to go until we are debt free but getting there.Monkeyballs wrote: »While being a bit of a moot point since my debts will soon be a lot lower I just wanted to say YIPPEE! Reach 75% paid off
Get below £20,000 of debt
Pay off next full debt, leaving 3 to go
Become mortgage free

Eh Up Peeps, Sorry been a bit absent but this bloody work thing gets in the way. A nice day working from home today. So my 3rd payment went to the cards this week and that's 5% done already. Decided to have a nice shiny colorful sig to cheer this on
Welcome all the newbies, I'm still technically a newbie but its dead easy this DMP lark. I just wish I had done it 10 years ago, I would be a millionaire by now
Been in a dmp for just over a year after many many years of making minimum payments, robbing peter to pay paul etc etc.
None of my creditors have reduced interest since starting my dmp and as I have three accounts with HBOS I wrote to them about each account, twice. They ignored me so I went to the FOS, which prompted a response.
Their response - they don't consider me to be in financial hardship as I am making more then the minimal contractual payments on my accounts.
Hi Karen, I think the only way you are going to get anywhere with these people is to play proper hard ball. This will mean going "self managed" as others have said, but after that you are probably going to have to stop paying anything for as long as it takes them to come around to your way of thinking, this could be 4 months even up to 6 months.
You are sort of forcing them to default you and pass it to a DCA who will then freeze interest and actually be nicer to deal with.
Of course you will have terrible hassle in this time on the phone, but if you just ignore it or unplug the phone let them ring away.
It is amazing what they can do when you force their arm.0 -
Crikey TTFC, those are big milestones!!!! Wow!!!
Ok folks, so a quick update on the other complaint which I've logged (this one with Moneyshop).
If they agree to uphold my complaint and offer a refund of charges then it won't be as much as the Cheque Centre, but chould be around £1.5k give or take as I have been rolling over and re-loaning for many many years (just a much smaller amount)...
Anyway, that's not the update. The update is that I called them this morning as it's been a month now and the literature they sent to me (at the wrong address) mentioned they aim to resolve complaints within 4 weeks. I know they have up to 8 weeks but thought what the hell
So, I called and asked and as expected they asked me to go through some security questions. I answered only to be told that my answers were wrong! It turns out that they STILL have me registered to an address I was living at four years ago DESPITE continually giving them my up to date details LOL I even have a stack of emails with confirmation of receipt and thanks for the update from them...
Anyway, the lady was actually very nice and apologised and has agreed to escalate the issue for me so it is dealt with "urgently" but it sort of supports my claim of irresponsible lending a touch doesn't it
Anyway, I'll keep you posted as I hear more
Ciao

There are sample letters here that you can adapt to your own circumstances. I'm sure SC gave me samples of letters when they sent me my pack too.
Thanks a lot for that, appreciated. I cobbled together a standard letter from the templates and other places and changed to suit my situation. It’s been a hectic week!! I managed to transfer my wages into my new account this
morning which was lucky. I did some extreme letter sending at the post office earlier, enclosing postal order s where appropriate. The post master wasn’t to happy sending them all by recorded delivery, big queue behind me, people moaning etc.
Had to be done though.
I’m kind of relieved I could send my wages to a safe haven and I will make sure they go into my new account next month via payroll.
My phone is constantly ringing already due to PDL's payments being declined. These calls are already on top of the constant calls
by people trying to lend me something, save my debt or enquire about PPI. I expect this will get worse. I did request that the creditors only correspond in writing but not holding my breath on that one.
SC have acknowledged my decision to delay the DMP activation for now but I have used the SC ref number in all my correspondence to the creditors. I paid a bit more off my Amigo loan, plan to pay it off in 2 months then start a DMP, either with SC or self-managed not sure yet.
Managed to pay my rent and child maintenance arrears and have enough to pay them this month.
Would like to thank everyone who replied to my panicking post and also to all the people who have posted before, I have gotten loads of tips on
how to get round this mess, it’s been invaluable.
I will keep chiming in if you don’t mind to update on what’s happening, probably be asking for further advice I expect
bye for now:)0 -
So that's the car fixed for now.... £360 later
Two new tyres needed on the rear as the old ones were !!!!. Luckily I got paid a bit more than I was expecting from work and the amount extra was semi-covered by what I was going to take out for a cambelt fund for next month - a re-jig of the finances required though. Final car finance payment goes out on the 5th at £240 so it's been an expensive month and it's not event the first of July yet! :-(
In DMP news, Westcot have sent me a letter confirming a repayment plan in place but the first payment date is on the 20th July, which strikes me as odd because my DMP payment is made on the 28tg of each month. So I need to pho e the DMP guys to ask ifwestcot have got it right or are trying to be cheeky, setting up a repayment plan the other side of a payday to try and catch me out. I'll do that on Monday now, a weekend won't make any difference plus I'm hot and bothered having sat in a garage waiting room for the best part of 4 hours!0
