  • So grateful to everyone who advised me to set up an emergency fund - the fridge part of our fridge freezer has packed in today :( Luckily I had delayed the weekly shop so not much food lost.

Going to buy a small fridge tomorrow and keep the freezer part going as long as possible!! Milk, butter, cheese and yoghurts currently sat in a cool bag!!

You never know - it may recover (doubtful though as it played up in the summer!)

Typically this happens as Christmas is approaching but at least we have a little saved in the emergency cover to get a little fridge and are not relying on using more credit to replace it as would have been the case a few months back.

Here's to affording a replacement with cash! :)

Just got to try and top up the emergency fund now

    Have a good weekend everyone!

Thanks Puzz - didn't even think of that!! Will check them all out :D
  • Thanks so much for the advice on my post yesterday. After a few phone calls and a trip to the bank (involving standing in the bank til they handed over the money haha) it's all sorted. We have our wages and have paid them into our new account. So grateful for this thread. Thanks again.

Hey Hutch - great news, big sigh of relief & well done for standing your ground in the bank, they rely on people not doing that to get away with bad banking behaviour.

Onwards and upwards with the DMP. If you can find time with newborn (congrats btw) and work etc, have a read through the thread for suggestions on managing your DMP so there are less surprises along the way.

Yeah our local freecycle has had a working fridge and a washer advertised twice because no one wanted them..or perhaps everyone thought they would go so quick they didn't bother to ask .... always worth a look.
