Ok... So now the initial buzz has faded a little it's just dawned on me, will this impact on my ESA benefits claim?

I've only recently put the claim in and while I need to send medical evidence I have been told I've been accepted for National Insurance based benefits of £72.40 per week (for which my company sick pay will be reduced to compensate).

When I made the claim I was asked if I had savings of £5,500 or more (which is no) but what should I do about this £4k?

Hmmm... Maybe I should keep in in the bank (not that I have it yet LOL) until everything has settled and I'm back at work?

    What do others think?

Check that SC have sent out an annual review to BC, they sometimes forget and that can initiate the reintroduction of interest.

    Thanks TTFTM, will do :)

I am bit puzzled with BC at the moment because they keep changing the markers on my OH's credit file. They've gone from AP to late payment and now they changed them all back to 'OK' up until Feb 14 with and LP marker for Mar, Apr and May so far! Very odd I must say.

Awesome news :T and although I cannot offer any advice regarding your benefits claim, I really hope its not affected and you can put aside some funds and make a dent in those debts.

I guess I could always buy a Lion and then male it eat the people I owe money to still...

Hmmm... It's crazy, but it just might work...

In the meantime while I wait for the money I thought I'd go out and treat myself, you know have a great big splash out! So I bought a Danish pastry ;) 65p never tasted soooooooo good! Now I know what victory tastes like, lemon and icing!!! Yummy!!! *Burp*

Re ESA. If you pay it off your debts then its not savings in my view. I usually say if I die today this is what Im worth etc. So I think pay it off and keep £500 emergency.

    Enjoy celebrating

    De lurking again.

MB up until recently I worked on ESA and if you've received a letter saying based on your National Insurance contributions you are getting it,it means your savings have no impact whatsoever :D

    Hi Danielle,

    Really? That's awesome thanks :)

I was thinking that it was below what the woman mentioned when I was on the phone to make the claim, I seem to recall £6k?

Thanks for confirming it for me :) I would call but all my minutes were used when I tried calling yesterday about the medical evidence they need but got stuck on hold for almost half an hour...
