Don't. It'll all come good soon!

I'm a couple of months ahead of you in terms of DMP so I'm at the point where most of the defaults seem to have been applied etc. I have a long history with NatWest and detest everything about them, but if your debt to them is to the credit card team, then it should be ok as they accepted my DMP first out of my creditors and have said nothing at all to me.

If it's an overdraft or current account then await contact from the crater in the ground that is 7 Brindley Place, as that's their collections team who are the biggest bunch of ham-fisted, pig-headed, childish, miserable Brummy ****s you'll ever have to deal with. But at least if you tell them you're going into a DMP, they hoof you off to a DCA quick-sharp, as referenced earlier in my call from the clueless Westcot bloke.

They can threaten to come round, nick you car, punch your cat etc, but they won't do it immediately and you'll get enough notice if they intend to go that way so you can put steps in place to stop it if possible.

Hi Sarah, yes it's just one per creditor. It shows as default each month but it's only the first that is relevant with regards to it dropping off!

Thanks Puzz and Sazzie for your replies, I get it now:)

...reading latest posts about CCJs - now my tummy's done a double flip - I keep trying to forget about that possibity and hope my DMP goes nice and smoothly. Although I've already thought where I'd hide my car  :rotfl:

I have to disagree with this. Natwest have been angels with me, od, loan and huge cc with them makes up a third of my total debt, all on no interest and no hassle. And we are talking 20k ..

The CC side of them have given me no issues and never have. They were the first of my creditors to agree to my DMP without any issue whatsoever.

It's just the collections centre in Brindley place that have given me untold amounts if grief. I don't know, maybe I just keep getting shovelled to their token morons!

I've just received my first 2 default notices today.

    Blimey, they're a bit scary, aren't they?

Talking about further action that might now be taken against me and "you must read this carefully" and sending an information booklet with it :-/

I think it's the booklet that does it... You know if someone gives you a booklet then something is bad... You don't get a booklet when you get three numbers on the lottery or a nice haircut, just things you don't want like "surprise! you're pregnant!" or "Jesus loves you and wants you to live in a garden with all his animals and ride on a Lion" or "So, you've got an itch after last night" and "We is defaulting yo !!!!" ;)

A debt is a debt is a debt, you're paying it just not as fast as they'd like... Read them your "I'm with Step Change on a DMP, here's my number..." spiel and tell them you need to go out LOL you need not listen to what they have to say after that :)

Just take it each step at a time with them. Birmingham collections very much seems a place where left hand has no idea what right hand is doing.

They'll likely default you and 'assign' the debt to Allied International Credit, who are their in-house DCA. What happens next is a bit of a mystery, as I never got a letter from Allied but they sold the debt straight onto Westcot - whether this is standard practice for them is beyond me.
