    Hi Sazzie,

Yeah... I dunno about that, I'm still coming to terms with the fact I've been offered it LOL and think I might just go straight out and hand it over to SC to distribute...

It is tempting because I could probably negotiate my £3k for £5k of debts but something in my head is saying not to mess with a good thing LOL

I just don't know, I think I'd need to speak to SC first or go self managed and then do it...

    Hi Danielle,

    Really? That's awesome thanks :)

I was thinking that it was below what the woman mentioned when I was on the phone to make the claim, I seem to recall £6k?

Thanks for confirming it for me :) I would call but all my minutes were used when I tried calling yesterday about the medical evidence they need but got stuck on hold for almost half an hour...

Yes between 6k and 16k it effects income related benefit but as yours are based on your National insurance contributions you could have millions in the bank and still claim :D

The medical evidence the require is the medical certificate (sick note) from the GP or hospital. They would need it from the date your claiming from. Hope this helps.

    Thanks Danielle :)

I think I have everything I need to send them now and I'm going to send a little more just in case LOL

So I was going to send sick notes, pay slips showing reduced SSP and a letter confirming I'm not currently doing any hours.

    I think that's everything?

If you were receiving ssp then they will require the ssp1. I take it that's stopped now?

  • Just when things were looking good... The car decides it wants to play silly beggars!

Driving last night I went down from third to second and felt a knock from the front end like something's loose. Managed to coax it to and from work and if I'm gentle I can get away with it, but something's not right.

Initial thoughts are it could be the bushes, and lord knows I've needed to replace them - anti roll-bar bushes are a few quid but if it's wishbones and bushes then it could be upwards of around £150, parts and labour. Just as I'd managed to build up a small emergency fund as well!

Going to book it into my local garage tomorrow for Thursday and ask them to look at it on the ramps to see if anything ominous is going on. I hope to god it's nothing else, otherwise the car's getting shunted into the lay-by and I'll have to take the train until I can get it done :(

A bit late after the event but well done and really pleased for you mb:) - I bet it will feel really rewarding choosing to reduce debts -

    - in the past I would have been straight online booking a holiday with 'free' money but not now - chocolate eclair would be my cake of choice:)

Sorry to hear your news pbp... hopefully it's only the bushes.

    LOL thanks Sunny :)

It's funny, it's still not sunk in really... It feels like a lottery win to me, God knows what I'd be like if I won that! LOL

I'm going to be sensible and hold fire until my benefits claim has gone through and I know I'm not going to have it stopped for not providing any evidence they need (shouldn't be the case but I'm paranoid) and then after that it's debt battering time!

There is still an urge to "treat myself" but I never do, even if I was in debt I'd never treat myself LOL I used to spend on other people so for me that Danish pastry was a big deal :)

    Here is what I'm planning to do;

I need new glasses, I've had my current ones for about 6 years and need a new prescription but I need thinned lenses as I have really bad eye sight :( so as I know they will last me for ages and I wear them all the time I'm looking at about £300.

I haven't been to the dentist in years either, I know I need a scale and polish and probably a filling - no idea of cost here if anyone can suggest? I'm guessing under £100 though?

Then I'm putting £600 into an emergency fund.

This leaves me with about £3k give or take to punish my debts :) that means by the end of the month my debts will be under £9k!!!!! That feels so good typing that... LOL

A big part of me wants to try for some F&F's but it's not exactly fair to my creditors which is what the whole DMP game is about :( if I went for F&F's I could probably write off close to £5k with the same money which would be amazing but I want to speak to SC first - I'm pretty sure they'll try to steer me away, it may even put my DMP at risk(?) but bottom line is they've been good to me so the least I can do is be honest and upfront with them :) it's just how I roll...

I wonder if my complaint with the Money Shop will go so smoothly? ;)
