Oh Suseka, what wonderful news! I couldn't be more pleased for you.
Sarah - go for it. What's the worst that could happen? The worst you can imagine never actually happens. As long as you're organised you will be fine. The debts will take care of themselves in the DMP, the family will soon adapt and you'll soon get into a routine. I thought I'd never manage full time work and four kids at three different care settings (2 schools and a child minder) but it just kind of happened. If it helps you at all our routine is everyone mucks in with housework (even the scary 5 year old) children each have chores (dishes/putting on washing/making their own packed lunches) and as there's nobody in most of the day there's less opportunity to make a mess. Evenings and weekends are more precious because of the limited time so we have less arguments too!
And continuing in the positive vein details of my bonus arrived and it's more than I expected so after all my worrying I possibly can clear the debts this month! I'm comfortable with waiting another month though I'd needs be (thanks to you lovely people). Whatever happens I will have repaid my friend on Friday and the DCA will be getting a good chunk if not all of it.
No word on the job yet (no news is good news - they haven't turned me down yet) but I'll be straight here when I know!

Hi all, just hoping some people can point me in the right direction, I'll get to that in a min.
Finally heard off Barclaycard today in the form of a regular statement asking me for the outstanding min repayment, a late payment fee and next months min payment. Can't believe this is the first thing I get off them to be honest.
Also had a statement from Tesco bank CC with a late payment fee on even though I recieved a letter from them accepting my circumstances and it was being handled by there debt collection team from now on.
MBNA have lived up to their letter so far, no hassle. And I still am yet to hear from HSBC lol.
Anyway, want to send Barclaycard and Tesco letters asking to stop interest and charges and have one ready for HSBC when they eventually start doing something.
Any templates available anywhere?
Cheers, and sorry for the essay :rotfl:0 -

Hi Sarah ,
Guess you mean tired? I also have tiredness issues due to health, and I have to pace myself, but I think 'you don't know til you try' and it sounds like a good opportunity, will it also help your DFD ?wannabedebtfree2016 wrote: »Hey guys,
Freaking out a little, partly because its the unknown and I don't know whether I will get defaults on my file or how many ect and partly because my partner has no idea (I know that is terrible but I have my reasons)
I am a bit worried now though as I work in a bank. I have been told by "other" DMP providers that if the bank credit scores me as a routine check then I could face losing my job. I know this is the case for IVA's and bankruptcy but does anyone have any idea as to how a DMP might affect me? Has anyone ever queried this before? Not sure if the DMP providers where trying to scare me for not going with them as they charge.
As you can probably guess no one at work knows my financial situation. Should I tell someone that I am entering a DMP do you think? Also, if I contacted HR for "confidential advice" are they legally obliged to keep it confidential?
Oh one last question, what does LBM mean?? I have seen it in peoples signatures.
Thanks
Hi wannabe
Welcome to the site, understand you may have good reasons for not sharing with partner, but hopefully someone you know can help share the load a bit.
Regards works, I don't know the situation but maybe you have a union rep you could talk to? Think most DMP providers would want you to go with them rather than scare you away so it's probably more complicated than just scare tactics.lumpyspaceprincess wrote: »Hi all!
Haven't posted in here as I've not had much to say, wrote with token payments advised by SC most have agreed for these two months, which is good. Argos sent me a letter telling me I might fall behind on payments. Might?! Hah. My minimum pmt was £4, , £2 is a vast difference eh. I might just pay the £4 to them and two to everyone else, as this is the smallest debt and my SC payments are actually more than I needed to contribute before!
The weird thing is I rang Santander to reduce the overdraft by a chunk as agreen with SC, and they said my behavioural score has gone down meaning I can only leave it be, or pay it off entirely. Looks like I'm working on my available balance - whatever for the rest of the month at least! *head spins a bit *
Hi Lumpyprincess,
What are Santander on about? They don't want your money? Are they closing your account or at least access to OD, think I might want to discuss with SC as I guess you don't have the ability to pay it off. Strange beings creditors at times :eek:Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Thanks all for the messages re my sis
Worked out what BC are doing... they've set the minimum payment at the same amount as the DMP payment, so that they can charge interest. Mmm... sneaky. Anyways I am onto it and if needs be will get the FOS involved.
Cabot have sent a letter cancelling the DMP agreement, they say that they've not received the agreed payment, which is rubbish, and so I've contacted SC to confirm they are sending payments through to Cabot and then they'll be getting a short sharp kick up the rear too.
Oh well.. one year in and in the main its all settled, just need to get BC and Hfx sorted and I can relaxLBM: March 2013 / DMP Start: 1 July 2013 / 14 Creditors

Great news about your sister Suseka, it must be a great relief for you all.
Halifax are being difficult about our reduced payments, but I can't summon up the energy to be bothered about it. Feeling rather fed up with everything atm, don't get paid until Friday, have £10 left in the bank account and one very grumpy OH who wanted to go and buy 'stuff' tomorrow and now can't.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Thanks Sazzie,
Yeah I know. It would feel great to share the load but I just don't feel ready to fess up to anyone yet. Guess that is partly why I am here, can be completely anon.
Left a message with the union rep this afternoon so hopefully I will be able to catch him in the morning and find out.
Have an interview for 16 hours a week at Asda on Wednesday so if that comes off I should be around 250/300 quid a month better off so feeling a little more positive today. It is working nights after my FT job but I would pretty much do anything right now that will help.Starting DMP with StepChange 1/10/14

Good luck with the jobs everyone
Suseka great news about your sister
wannabedebtfree2016 no one knows about my DMP either. Good luck with your union rep.
Feeling a bit nervous today as my Barclaycard payment is due tomorrow. They have had the letter from SC so they will know about my DMP but they haven't acknowledged it. Also I had a very confusing letter from the catalogue company that have accepted my DMP to say that as I have cancelled my direct debit I will have to find another way to pay my minimum payment (which is showing as the amount SC will be paying them). Not sure if this is a computer generated thing or if they do not realise the money will be coming from SC.LBM July 14

Depending on how much you're paying BC in relation to the balance this could be a big fight. I pay £1 under 1% and I've had no issues at all. Tesco sent LOADS of letters. In the first month they reduced my credit limit, added one £12 late fee then issued a default and stopped all interest and charges. I get no bother at all from them now. HSBC have been nothing short of a pest. No action on the loan, CC stopped interest and charges in month 2 and not a clue what is going on with the overdraft! I get letters and emails on how to manage the account, last month they refunded one month of interest and they are ignoring my letter to the CEO. going to resend electronically today with more calm but angry statements
Personally I'd give them a month and allow yourself some breathing space. This is a settling in period. It's normal for debt to go up in the first month or two. Once they've had 2 or 3 payments and you've established a pattern of making payments you have solid ground to fight from. I suspect this is why they don't act too quickly on the charges/interest. From their point of view (and I don't wish to sound unsympathetic) they've seen it a million times where a debtor makes a payment plan, fails in the second or third month and costs them in chasing the debt. I guess they just want some proof of commitment to regularly paying it off before they jump into working with you.
