I'd change them over straight after they are taken from your old account, one by one. This was my original plan but luckily I was able to change my wages for this month and I had a two week window for my non DMP DD's. LBM 8th August 2014 £21,200 | 0 | Debt Free Date - 23rd August 20190 -

Had my welcome pack from SC on Wednesday. Plan starts on 1.9.14. I've had one notification from a catalogue company already that they have accepted the plan. All interest and charges stopped. So pleased about this as I read they could be really difficult.
I had a notification of acceleration from one of payday loan companies though. Should I be worried about this? It says that the whole payment is now due and that they might default me and refer it to a debt purchaser and that no interest will accrue from this point. Is this a good thing?
Well done with the freezeDefaults are good (quicker they get put on the better) so that sounds positive. A debt collection agency doesn't mean bailiffs, they have no more power than the company the debt was originally with.
Could I ask when did you send back your signed agreement for to SC please? I ask as I'm awaiting my welcome pack and would like to estimate a timescale. LBM 8th August 2014 £21,200 | 0 | Debt Free Date - 23rd August 20190 -

I'm afraid I cannot answer your question other than defaults are good so that sounds positive, debt collection agecy doesn't mean bailiffs, they have no more power than the company the debt was originally with.

Hi in_a_noodle
I sent my DMP info to SC in the evening on 31st July. They gave me a call on the 7th to say my plan was actioned and to answer some questions I had sent with my paperwork and my welcome pack arrived on Wednesday. If you are worried perhaps give them a call the lady I spoke to was really lovely. I was so worried about the process but she was really helpful and reassuring.LBM July 14
DMP 01.09.14 47 payments to Debt Free0 -
Hola!
Apologies I've been a no show - I'm moving house and it's been horrendous.
I've sorted out my plan and the first payment has gone out ... and then the calls from Very/Shop Direct started - about 5 a day at their peak from 8 in the morning until 9 at night. Fun times since I'm at work from 8.30-5.30 and my colleagues works at our house so she has to answer the phone.
I'm not answering it -and I'm not scared, just annoyed. So my dad who pays the bill is going to ask them to communicate via letter and remove the number from their records.
I feel so free since undertaking the DMP. Freer than I have felt in a very long time
But irritated about these phone calls. The truth is out there... and I want to believe0 -
Hi all you lovely dfw peeps, old and new (no offence intended
)
My creditors were all fine, I wrote to them all, told them payplan would be in touch and that was that. Some still sent what I now believe to be standard letters saying I had missed payments or was behind, and some sent letters acknowledging the plan. All quite happily took the money payplan was sending to them on my behalf from month one regardless of what they said in their letters! Then after the first month or so, contact dwindled to almost nothing and it all just ran along smoothly. Then about 6 months some of them started contacting me again, I referred them to payplan, who resent my i and e sheet and reiterated my circumstances had not changed and then it all settled down again. I don't answer the phone to numbers I don't recognise and have declined to give any creditors my mobile number - but still don't answer calls on that to people i don't know either! So all in all, it's not been anywhere near as bad as I was expecting.Debt at highest - June 2013 - 26k/ March 2018 - 2500

Hi SOTD,
No interest has to be a good thing, and the debt purchaser usually means it's a debt collection agency, I've found them to be easy to deal with, I give them straightforward answers and call them if they write to me, no pressure to pay anything extra to SC payments. And defaults = good, although the letters always look scary, read them, call them and then file away.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

I need both actually but may have left it a bit late for the Groupon. I always loved you measuring debt free targets in buying things like loo rolls, dishcloths etc but now you are close, am not sure what you can use. Hmmm maybe one loo roll and number of individual sheets until you are debt free! :rotfl:

Morning all, default day again! Where did this week go?
Just 6 days to waving off my non-DMP debts now but I may only be able to see one off
They're both interest free (a friend and a DCA) but I've been arranging Uni Open days with DD1. she wants to do veterinary science so options are limited and we're going to have to travel quite a bit.
Nottingham and Bristol aren't a problem to drive to (just over an hour away each in opposite directions) but Liverpool is a stretch (DS1 is considering there too for Architecture) and there is no way I'm driving the round trip from Coventry to Glasgow at 6 hours each way!
Bit of creative thinking and looking at my railcard bought to reduce the cost of our trip to London next week and it's possible to get both trips - including a night in the Glasgow EasyJet hotel for £150 IF I book ASAP.
DS1 will still be 15 for the Liverpool trip so he's going too and using the railcard makes the train fare £10 less than just DD1 and I going! So the three of us are off to Liverpool at the end of September.
The Glasgow advance fare is around £80 and 5 hours so we'll have to do it overnight for the 9.30am start on the Saturday. Cue the cheap hotel search and finding Glasgow has an easyJet hotel. I stayed in the easyjet hotel in Paddington and it's a perfectly adequate base for exploring a city (literally a bed each and en suite tiny enough to almost have a shower while you're sat on the loo :rotfl:) and at £19 per night it's ideal for us. It also falls the weekend after her 17th so will be a birthday treat too. Depending on how much my bonus is I'll still be able to get a substantial chunk gone but clearing the DCA debt completely may take an extra month.
A part of me is feeling a bit guilty about putting off clearing both but then another part feels that making sure DD1 picks the right Uni for her is worth the possible extra month. Her father won't take her or contribute and these two trips will be partly paid from my entertainment budget for September. Feeling rather torn right now. SC will still be paid and the regular payment to the DCA will be paid (plus hopefully a bit more). This is making my brain ache but my gut is telling me this is the right thing to do. Her UCAS application needs to be worked on before the 2015 open days and if she visits these places and hates them all that work is for nothing and will need to be redone. (Sounds like I'm trying to convince all of you now!)
I do have other news. I've applied for a new job and asked for a substantial raise. Still with the same company but I'm thinking positively. Could potentially double my DMP payments and halve my DFD :j I haven't applied for a job in 3 years so I'm understandably nervous but crossing everything and if it doesn't happen it just means there's something better around the corner
Have a great weekend everyone
