  • Having one of those days where I'm worrying as tomorrow the first full payment will be missed with one of my creditors and replaced with a token payment. I have sent a letter so they will get that tomorrow or Tuesday advising of them of the situation. Just having one of those panic moments of what am I doing. I have felt more in control of it since talking to Stepchange so know that it feels the right thing to do.... just stressing a bit and not a lot here to keep my mind off it so trying to think of things to do

  • Thanks all, I think I just needed to be told it was okay. Bit silly really but you always talk such sense!

I was very MSE yesterday. Drove to a wedding reception and I'm so glad I did! Even a small glass of soda was over £2 so god knows how much alcohol was! Lovely evening though and even more lovely to climb into my nice warm car and go straight home rather than navigate taxis and trains :)

Back to work tomorrow and then wait until I get news of the job. The wedding was a work friend and a few interesting things came up and it seems there'll be quite a few jobs becoming available over the next few weeks and months so I'm happy I was listening ;)

Absolutely exhausted now after a kids party this afternoon and looking forward to an early night. Think I must be getting old ;)

  • Hi all

Try not to fret startingover it will all be fine:).. maybe read over some old posts and see how it was worry over nothing for many, including myself;)

I have been tidying up paperwork today and getting to know my YNAB friend a little better :). I believe I have had four default notices now - I say believe because after TTFTM problems with Lloyds I can't quite believe I have the real thing. Will they show up on my Noddle automatically or will they only show if Lloyds 'share' the information - so if they are proper default notices does my six years start from the date on the letter or the Noddle date. I hope this makes sense ....:)

Thought I could run this by any of you. I have now been offered the new 'role' (lol) no one else probably went for it they'd be mad to - a whole load of responsibility with a grand name and I'll probably be the last stop for all the flack! But it is a promotion. The trouble is it is 37 hours per week (I had hoped I could negotiate it down to 30). I'm worried I won't cope - and with being home looker after, kids at GCSE levels, OH s/e books etc, managing finances and without making a big deal of it I do have health problems where I get tidied easily (although I try and forget about all that unless it affects me). I could remain in old post 16/22 hrs pw but I feel guilty that I should pull more money in and of course I would like to but not sure whether I'd be taking on too much. I wondered if any of you had any similar experiences/thoughts.

    Thanks, Sarah x

  • Hey guys,

New to this site. Just been reading some posts on this thread and you all seem very supportive and lovely people.

I have just sent paper work off to StepChange yesterday to commence the DMP. Total £6725 paying £303 per month. Payments start 1/9. Freaking out a little, partly because its the unknown and I don't know whether I will get defaults on my file or how many ect and partly because my partner has no idea (I know that is terrible but I have my reasons)

I am a bit worried now though as I work in a bank. I have been told by "other" DMP providers that if the bank credit scores me as a routine check then I could face losing my job. I know this is the case for IVA's and bankruptcy but does anyone have any idea as to how a DMP might affect me? Has anyone ever queried this before? Not sure if the DMP providers where trying to scare me for not going with them as they charge.

As you can probably guess no one at work knows my financial situation. Should I tell someone that I am entering a DMP do you think? Also, if I contacted HR for "confidential advice" are they legally obliged to keep it confidential?

Oh one last question, what does LBM mean?? I have seen it in peoples signatures. :)

    Thanks

      Morning,

I would suggest reading your Staff handbook and checking if it says you have to disclose it to your manager and if it is a disciplinary offence if you dont.

You need to keep hold off this job to clear your debts and so you dont want to jeopardise it by NOT telling them if you have to and they find out later when they run a credit check on you.

In my case I was (and still am) a Civil Servant when I started (and finished) my DMP and told my manager when it started - I didnt have to but thought it best to make them aware of the situation - it had no affect on me or my job.

LBM = Light Bulb Moment, that day when you realise you need to sort out your debt !

      Hope this helps.
    • Yes it does thanks. I mean it's not like it's an IVA or DRO or anything. I think I may ring hr today to see if I can get the information first. The conversation with my manager is going to be tough. :-/

      • Hi all!

Haven't posted in here as I've not had much to say, wrote with token payments advised by SC most have agreed for these two months, which is good. Argos sent me a letter telling me I might fall behind on payments. Might?! Hah. My minimum pmt was £4, , £2 is a vast difference eh. I might just pay the £4 to them and two to everyone else, as this is the smallest debt and my SC payments are actually more than I needed to contribute before!

Need to ring barclaycard as they sent a terribly useful letter just saying to call them, will see what they have to say. They took my cheque just fine so they can't really complain!

The weird thing is I rang Santander to reduce the overdraft by a chunk as agreen with SC, and they said my behavioural score has gone down meaning I can only leave it be, or pay it off entirely. Looks like I'm working on my available balance - whatever for the rest of the month at least! *head spins a bit *

Back to work this week and back to dealing with a few DMP issues. The last letter I sent to Hfx to chase up the promised default has worked in so far as they have transferred my debt to Westcot. Spoke to a chappie there on Saturday and gave him the usual details, SC ref etc., also updated SC online so hopefully that's that sorted.

Oddly BC have charged interest on OH's credit card this month again (having recently refunded past interest charges)! A case of right hand/left hand methinks. So that now needs sorting.

On a more positive note (and for those of you who are interested) my sister's surgery was successful. After 7 hrs of surgery she is now officially cancer free :j She'll be in hospital for a few weeks yet, but her spirits are high and she is so much more positive about the future.

Thanks to all of you for your wishes and support - made a big difference to my mental state that's for sure.
