asking for a streetlight to be dimmed

I'd be amazed if they dimmed a street light. If there were an accident where the lights were dimmed, or a burglary or anything else untoward, they'd be right up the creek.0

Here is one solution.

If it's 'been bugging you for years', why have you not done something sooner?
They're not going to dim an individual streetlight for one resident; what happens if everyone wants' 'theirs' adjusting to suit their own sleep requirements? No free lunch, and no free laptop

I've got black-out lining curtains for my bedroom as like you, I've got a street-light opposite the house. They work well and have no smell at all.0

The council will shield the light to stop it shining in your window if you ask them. My neighbour had this done.0

Same here, the lenses around the light have reflectors built in and can be adjusted to direct the light different ways. We watched the council worker do it - took him less than a minute and it made a massive difference0 -
We have the same problem, Dada44, and have put up with it for 8 years. We've tried blackout blinds but the light is so bright, the light that inevitably comes in around the edges or shines in when the wind blows, is really annoying. Think I might ask the council if they'll fit something to it - I've always assumed they wouldn't but sounds like they can do. HOpe you also get a solution.
Avoriaz...I've been tempted. (:Debts 2004: £6000..............................................Aug 2007: £0!!!!0 -
My local council switches lights on at 21.00 , when it's still light & switches them all at 12.00 midnight .
Except for the council office at the end of my street which is lit like a Christmas tree despite being closed .
I feel I need to complain to them , worried bout being labelled as a moaner if emergency services needed to come the streets in my town , they'd struggle to see house numbers in most cases IMO .mum "e" to the most perfect girl :Awho stood by me through it all nana to my beautiful grandson WLM 27.09.13:j

Turning a house into a home
What if the Hokey Cokey is really what it's all about ?0 -
The road outside my house has had new lamp standards in the last month. I noticed that at least one has a screen on the side facing a nearby house.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
