I just wanted to add to this thread, Because of what you have mentioned, Flumina, I have been checking my phone / balance carefully.
I have recently had several unknown numbers on my cheap little Nokia mobile and even though I dont answer, the balance comes up with 10p deducted each time.
It may only be 10p but I get several of these calls every day as this is my business phone for my little childrens party stuff (I dont want my home or personal number used ) so it is out there in the public domain.
I have tried to activate call barring with no success. Have you managed to do something with your phone?

Linda - I had yet another call yesterday and the same thing happened - I didn't answer it and it took a small amount of my credit. I have a very old Samsung phone and can't block numbers on it. So I went online to the O2 site and had a "live chat" with one of their operators - they've now blocked that number for me (I hope!).
