love the fact most people think its too expensive it keeps it lovely and clear for all the people who can claim it back ........having said that I do still use it even if I am paying not very MSE I grant you but as one poster said its the often the only part of the journey that is traffic free. Tag makes it a bit cheaper for the regulars too but not much
Can't do tag on the bike, so it's pull up, bike on stand, gloves off, fish for change, pay, gloves back on, pull away.
Tempting to see if something like this

for a protest to be effective it has to inconveniewnce the general public enough for them to put pressure of the company to make changes. Since the m6 toll is largely deserted I don't think it get such a reaction :rotfl:0 -

Very true LOL0 -
As a general rule I refuse to pay the toll, as if Birmingham is That Bad, we'll stop for sandwiches & a nap.
When I had to be South for a specific time, I ended up having to pay the toll & snarled my way down it's overpriced length at glad-it's-quiet-as-I'm-not-used-to-doing-over-90.
Not something I want to make a habit of, bad though the traffic certainly can be.0 -

I did think this after i posted. £3.50 for me however would still be too much when i know the local way round the issue...0 -

VED income isn't used for building and maintenance of roads, I think (though it was a long time ago) that's why the name was changed from Road Fund License / Road Tax. I don't know about the fuel taxes.
I don't use it because it's too expensive. At around £3 as others have said, it might be worth a punt. But then I don't travel around all that much - a quick trip down to Luton a couple of saturdays ago saw the M6 flowing quite well. Whether that's because the 50mph roadworks around the top end of the toll road evens the flow out I can't tell.
I was at an exhibition at the NEC when the toll road was opened, and I remember coming back to the car every evening to find they'd been around and put publicity leaflets on every windscreen urging people to use the toll road. What they didn't do was describe the convoluted method you have to use to actually get on it from the NEC if you're going north, and I'm sure more would have tried it out if they had.
When it was cheaper we used to use it sometimes when visiting the NEC and I remember one of the businesses alongside had a big sign up for years proclaiming how they hadn't been paid for the land yet. I wonder if they ever got paid.0 -
As an occasional user, I think its great. Obviously if you use it every day the cost is prohibitive.0

Its how roads should be but its not cheap.0

I wonder if m6 tolls end game is a buyout from the government. Sounds like they could increase their profits by reducing prices and getting more people to use it.
I wonder if their strategy is to just make enough money to pay for the maintenance of the roads and price out everyone else and make the regular m6 absolutely dog!!!!!. So the government is forced to just buy the m6 toll.
regular m6 lane expansion will mean in the short term the inside line is closed off, speed reduced to 50 and a 5 year wait before it's expanded.
Talking of which - why dont they jsut add two more lanes instead of one so they cover their backs for another 100 years.0 -
